Cost Comparison: Is skiing with Club Med really better value?

The document provides a detailed cost comparison between booking an all-inclusive Club Med ski package and arranging each element of a ski holiday independently. This comparison highlights the potential financial advantages of choosing Club Med, where accommodation, flights, transfers, ski passes, lessons, meals, drinks, and entertainment are combined into a single price.

By consolidating these components, Club Med eliminates the need for travellers to budget separately for each expense, often resulting in a more cost-effective overall package. In many cases, the research demonstrates that Club Med’s packages offer significant savings compared to the total cost of assembling a ski trip individually. Additionally, the all-inclusive model ensures there are no unexpected costs, providing a transparent and predictable pricing structure that appeals to those seeking financial clarity and value. Remember, also, the convenience & huge savings of time & stress of comparing & arranging individual elements, plus the financial & legal protections provided by the ABTA & ATOL memberships & licences that Club Med holds.

Ease and Convenience: How Club Med make ski holidays hassle-free

Why Club Med Ski Holidays Are So Convenient

One of the biggest perks of a Club Med ski holiday is the convenience. Everything is taken care of in one simple package, making trip planning a breeze. Here’s what’s included:

  • Resort transfers (on flight-included packages)
  • Ski passes
  • Ski-in/ski-out access at many resorts
  • All meals
  • Ski lessons

Instead of booking everything separately—accommodation, lift passes, lessons, transfers—Club Med rolls it all into one price. This means:

  • Less hassle
  • No surprise costs
  • More time to enjoy your holiday

Plus, some packages even include charter flights and organized transfers, making travel seamless from the moment you leave home. Compared to booking everything yourself (with fluctuating prices and last-minute changes), Club Med is a stress-free alternative—especially great for families, groups, or anyone who just wants an easy, relaxing ski trip.

The Time-Consuming Reality of Booking Independently

We did some research to compare Club Med’s packages to independent bookings, and here’s what we found—it takes a LOT of time to put everything together yourself:

  1. Finding the right accommodation
    • We had to check multiple ski operators to find a similar all-inclusive or comparable stay.
    • Matching departure dates was tricky, as availability often forced us to adjust plans.
  2. Booking ski passes & lessons
    • While most ski resorts list lift pass prices online, figuring out the correct pass for each area took time—especially for larger resorts like Paradiski, which has multiple pass options.
    • Ski lesson booking was even more complex. Some resorts were easy (just checking the ESF website), but others, like Serre Chevalier, required finding the exact village to get accurate pricing.

Booking everything separately takes a significant amount time and effort. If you want to skip all that and just enjoy your ski holiday, Club Med’s all-inclusive approach is the way to go.

Considering different budgets for ski

The research strategically appeals to a diverse range of travellers by demonstrating how Club Med’s all-inclusive ski packages cater to both budget-conscious and luxury-oriented skiers. For those seeking the best value for their money, the cost breakdown illustrates how Club Med can be a more economical choice compared to booking flights, accommodation, ski passes, and meals separately. On the other hand, for premium travellers who prioritize convenience and exclusive experiences, Club Med’s offerings—such as top-tier resorts, high-end dining, and expert-led ski lessons—enhance the appeal of the package. By showcasing various price points and benefits across different resorts, the research enables consumers to make informed decisions based on their budget and travel preferences, ultimately broadening Club Med’s market reach.

Which Club Med Ski resorts offer the best value for budget?

Best value Club Med Resort overall

Club Med Pragelato Sestriere is the best value resort among those we reviewed for the 2024/25 season. Located in the Via Lattea or ‘Milky Way’ ski area, this resort offers the lowest price for a 7-night holiday, with a total cost for 2 people starting from £3,329. It offers access to 400km of ski slopes and well as a highest number of dining options of all Club Med’s European ski resorts.

Best value Club Med Resort for luxury

The best value resort for those looking for luxury is Club Med Val d’Isere, their only Exclusive Collection Ski Resort. For a 7-night holiday in April, you can expect to pay around £4949 total for 2 people including return flights and transfers. If you were to book an independent holiday to an equally rated hotel, you may be paying around £4918 total for a 7-night holiday on a half board basis.

While you may be paying £31 less on the independently organised holiday, you will be missing out on included lunches, drinks, kids’ clubs, and other included entertainment & activities. You would also be missing out on other benefits of staying at a Club Med Exclusive Collection resort such as their concierge service, in-room dining and access to a shuttle into Val d’Isere village.

Best Club Med Resort for savings

Club Med Saint-Moritz Roi Soleil offers the best value for a resort vs a comparable independent holiday. A holiday to Club Med Saint Moritz in March costs around £3783 for 2 people, while a similar rated hotel in Saint Moritz would cost £5733 total. One of the main reasons that the Club Med holiday is better value is due to the inclusion of the ski lift pass and ski lessons.

Ski passes for Saint Moritz can cost £328pp for 6 days access to the ski area. Another cost you’ll need to consider is ski lessons. All club med ski holidays include group ski lessons but if you want to book ski lessons on top of an independent holiday, it may cost you from £509pp for a week’s worth of lessons.

During our research, we found that four of the Club Med Resorts were more expensive than holidays to similar hotels in their respective ski areas. This, however, does not mean that they are worse value than those; the Club Med inclusions must always be considered, which are often not available elsewhere.

A holiday to Club Med Serre Chevalier for instance came in at £289 more expensive than an equivalent holiday. However, this equivalent holiday package does not include any lunches or drinks for either guest. Independent childcare costs have also not been investigated, these are usually a substantial cost and may not have the security of the Club Med qualified staff.

How to get the Best Deal on a Club Med Ski Holiday

  • Book early

Booking your Club Med Ski holiday early means you get the best choice of rooms, which can help keep the cost of your holiday down. The closer you get to your desired departure date, the lower the room availability may be, with only the more expensive rooms available.

  • Travel outside of peak times

As with other holidays, ski holidays tend to be cheaper outside of peak times such as Christmas and February Half Term. Travelling in late November, early December, March, and April may offer you a better price. If you are looking to travel during these periods, you should consider heading to a high-altitude resort to guarantee good ski conditions. Club Med La Plagne 2100 is a good option, being one of the better value resorts and offering access to a ski area at 2100m-3320m altitude. You should also check opening and closing dates for resorts, as some may not open until mid-December or close at the end of March.

What else makes Club Med Ski worth it?

  1. Club Med Easy Arrival
All Club Med Ski holidays offer their Easy Arrival Service. This allows you to organise any equipment you hire through Club Med, level of ski lessons for each guest and register details childcare prior to departure.
  2.  Ski-in/Ski-out Resorts in Top Locations
Club Med offers resorts in some of Europe’s top ski destinations such as Val d’Isere, Tignes and Val Thorens. Almost all their European ski resorts also offer ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes, except for Club Med Saint Moritz.
  3. Children under 4 stay free
At all Club Med Ski Resorts, children under the age of 4 stay for free and those aged between 4 and 11 get 20% off. These discounts are applicable on both peak and off-peak dates

Conclusion: Is Club Med Ski Worth It?

Club Med ski holidays offer an all-inclusive package that simplifies the complexities of planning a ski trip. When compared to independently booking accommodation, lift passes, lessons, meals, and transfers, Club Med often provides cost savings and a stress-free experience. The all-in-one pricing ensures financial predictability, avoiding hidden costs.

Convenience is a key advantage, with ski-in/ski-out access, included passes, lessons, and optional charter flights, making it ideal for families and groups. Club Med caters to various budgets, offering both budget-friendly options like Pragelato Sestriere and luxury experiences such as Val d’Isère’s Exclusive Collection.

While some Club Med resorts may be priced slightly higher than equivalent independent trips, the included meals, drinks, entertainment, childcare, and ski services often outweigh the price difference. To maximize value, early booking and off-peak travel are recommended, along with leveraging perks like the Easy Arrival service.

For those prioritizing ease and value, Club Med’s all-inclusive ski holidays offer a seamless, worthwhile alternative to independent planning.
