Review of Inghams’ Chalet Corniche Resort in Tignes
In December 2024, Customer Services Advisor Katie had the opportunity to visit the iconic ski resort of Tignes in the French Alps, staying at Chalet Corniche, as part of a familiarisation experience with Inghams Ski. This is a review of her experiences on the trip, as well as her recommendations to someone visiting the same region. Follow this link to listen to the full podcast episode on Spotify.
As we approached the resort in the taxis that evening, the view was something I’ll never forget—it was absolutely breath-taking. The road wound its way through the mountains, and as we climbed higher, the valley below opened up dramatically. We could see a massive drop ahead of us, and while it was a bit nerve-wracking, the sheer beauty of it all made the moment unforgettable. The entire ski area was gorgeous, with towering peaks dusted in snow and dramatic mountain vistas stretching in every direction. The way the last light of the day hit the slopes made it feel almost magical.
We stayed in Chalet Corniche which was great during the festive Christmas season. It was nicely decorated with a tree, and cosy holiday ornaments that made it feel like a home away from home. The skiing itself was nothing short of incredible. The area was vast, offering an extensive range of terrain that seemed to stretch endlessly. It truly felt like a skier’s paradise, especially for intermediate and advanced skiers. The variety of slopes kept things exciting, with wide runs perfect for carving, steep challenging sections, and even some off-piste opportunities for those feeling adventurous. That said, I’d caution complete beginners—some of the slopes were quite steep and might be intimidating for first-timers.
Our group dove headfirst into the après-ski scene, which was an absolute highlight of the trip. One night, we visited a renowned bar known for its live DJ and energetic crowd. The place was buzzing with excitement—people were dancing like there was no tomorrow, climbing onto tables, and cheering along with the music. The energy was infectious and made for an unforgettable evening. Just a word of advice: pace yourself with the drinks! Skiing with a hangover the next day isn’t ideal, and trust me, you’ll want to be at your best to enjoy the slopes.
Compared to a smaller, quieter resort I visited in the past, this one was much more vibrant. It felt like the perfect destination for young people or those looking for a lively, social atmosphere, but it still catered well to families and more laid-back visitors. The facilities were excellent—our chalet alone had a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and even a small bar. Each room had its own balcony, offering stunning views of the nearby ski lifts and snow-covered trees. Waking up to that sight every morning was an experience in itself.
The resort’s amenities were top-notch as well. There were souvenir shops, cafés, swimming pools, and even a free bus service that made it really easy to explore the area. One unique feature I loved was a steep hill right outside the chalet that you could ski down directly—a little thrill before even reaching the main lifts!
For food lovers, I can’t recommend the local restaurants enough. The dining options ranged from fancy gourmet spots to more budget-friendly bistros, so there was something for everyone. The local dishes were a delight to try, and I even indulged in a few cocktails.
Overall, the resort of Tignes had it all: phenomenal skiing, outstanding facilities, vibrant nightlife, and plenty of dining options. Whether you’re an avid skier, a partygoer, or someone just looking to soak up the alpine atmosphere, this place delivers. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat—it’s the kind of destination that stays with you long after you leave.
