Explore Maasai Mara, home of Kenya’s famous big cats; lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas and jackals can all be sighted here. Then on to Buffalo Springs Reserve in search of the Samburu Special Five; reticulated giraffe, Grévy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and beisa oryx.
And it’s not just the wildlife that’s fascinating, during your travels you’ll visit the villages of local tribes to learn more about their culture and traditions. Arrive in the evening and transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay
Today you’ll meet your driver guide who will accompany you for the next six days. You’ll travel in comfortable 4×4 land cruisers. The first stop of the day is the Giraffe Centre where you’ll be introduced to some Rothchild Giraffes. Arrive at your lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch and then enjoy the tour’s first game drive. In the evening, you have time to relax, have dinner and get a debrief from your Tour Manager and guide.
In the morning, you’ll have the choice to explore the national park with a game drive in the morning and an afternoon at leisure. If you choose to, you can enjoy an afternoon boat ride on Lake Navaisha and a nature walk at Crescent Island Game Park.
Venture through the Great Rift Valley, admiring the stunning Kenyan countryside. You’ll arrive at the renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve, your base for the next day, in time for lunch. In the afternoon, take a game drive of Maasai Mara, home to the ‘Big Five’. Look out for giraffes, elephants, lions, hyenas and many more. Plus, if you visit from late July to October, you may be able to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Enjoy two full days in Maasai Mar, with a range of activities on offer. Join game drives, relax in the lodge or take an optional excursion to the village of the Maasai. On day 5, end an afternoon game drive with a stop to watch the sunset, and tuck into drinks and nibbles.
After breakfast, journey towards Lake Naivasha. Spend the afternoon at leisure in the Country Club, your hotel for the night.
Cross over the equator as you head to Buffalo Springs Reserve, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, explore the reserve in the company of your driver guide who is hand with specialist knowledge of the wildlife here.
Spend two full days exploring the vast reserve, with either full or half day game drives and options to visit the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary and the Samburu Reserve
Take a flight from the Samburu reserve to Nairobi and have lunch or dinner at a local restaurant before transferring for your overnight flight home
Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi – 4*
Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi is located within a 20-minute drive from the airport.
Each individually decorated room is air-conditioned and is equipped with a tv, mini-bar and tea and coffee-making facilities.
The hotel features two restaurants, a bar and swimming pool, and massage and wellness treatments. The open terrace restaurant offers an à la carte menu for lunch and dinner and has an open terrace overlooking the city.
Lake Nakuru Lodge, Lake Nakuru National Park – 3*
Lake Nakuru Lodge is a beautiful eco-lodge unobstructed views of the lake and wildlife. The large pool has panoramic views of the national park; watch zebra visit the nearby watering hole from the comfort of the partially open area lounge seats.
The rooms are spacious with wooden furnishings with a sliding french window, a balcony, shower, safe, ceiling fan and air-conditioning.
Mara Simba Lodge – 4*
This is a haven for wildlife spotting and a sanctuary to relax after a day’s game drive. There is a spacious restaurant and bar. The air-conditioned, spacious rooms are well equipped with a mini-fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, shower room, in-room safe, mosquito net (on request from reception) WiFi in rooms public areas and a balcony that overlooks the reserve
Lake Naivasha Country Club – 4*
Located on the shores of Naivasha Lake, the country club is just a 30-minute drive to Crescent Island. Dating back to the 1930s, the yesteryear ambience is reflected in the elegant décor, and the facilities here include a restaurant, bar pool, and spa.
The 50 comfortable rooms feature tiled floors with wooden interiors and furniture, including an en-suite shower, hairdryer, minibar, tv, and tea and coffee-making facilities.
