Days 1-2: Fly overnight to Shanghai
Fly overnight to Shanghai. On arrival, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Explore Shanghai
Spend the day exploring the city, beginning at the Yu Garden before strolling through the old town and visiting a silk mill and the Jinmao Tower from which you can take in sweep views of the skyline. Later, walk along the Bund to admire the colonial architecture before boarding a boat to cruise along the Huangpu River. This evening, enjoy a dinner of traditional Shanghainese cuisine

Day 4: Travel to the Yangtze
Board the bullet train to Yichang and transfer to the port to board your river cruise ship.

Days 5-7: Yangtze River Cruise
Over the next three days, sail upstream, enjoying a range of shore excursions and onboard entertainment. You’ll also get the chance to take a scenic side trip to either the Shennong or Goddess Stream on small boats to explore.

Day 8: Historic Ciqikou
This morning, disembark in Chongqing. Explore old Ciqikou, a district known for its historic porcelain production. Transfer to Chengdu and enjoy a delicious Sichuanese meal for dinner. Tonight you’ll have the option to attend a performance of Sichuan Opera.

Day 9: Chengdu Panda Reserve
Start the day with a visit to Chengdu’s renowned Panda Conservation Base where you can see and learn about pandas in a habitat mirroring their natural surroundings. Explore the museum to learn about its breeding efforts. Later, take a bullet train to Xian. In the evening enjoy a delicious feast of traditional Shui Jiao dumplings and a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 10: Terracotta Warriors
Spend the morning admiring the famous Terracotta Warriors and visiting the workshop of the craftsmen who recreate warriors in the style of ancient counterparts. Later, take a stroll along the 14th century city walls around the old towns. Stop at a local brewery for a beer testing before walking through the alleys of the Muslim Quarter.

Day 11: Bullet train to Beijing
Take a bullet train to Beijing.

Day 12: Imperial Beijing
This morning, head to Tiananmen Square and venture into the Forbidden City, seeing its collection of imperial buildings. Later, stroll through the grounds of the Temple of Heaven. In the evening, watch a Chinese acrobatic show.

Day 13: The Great Wall
Spend the morning at the Great Wall, getting the chsance to walk along a section and take in the magnificent views. In the afternoon, visit a jade factory before visiting the Summer Palace for a walk through the traditional gardens. For dinner, enjoy Beijing’s best known delicacy – Peking duck

Day 14: Fly to Mongolia
Take a flight to Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 15: Explore Ulaanbaatar
Begin today with a visit to the Gandan Monastery, the largest in Mongolia. Head into the city to walk around Sukhbaatar Square before viewing the collections at the Chinggis Khaan Museum. This evening, enjoy a folklore concert featuring traditional songs and dances.

Day 16: Terelj National Park
Leaving the city behind, travel into Terelji National Park, stopping en-route to see the 46-metre tall stature of Genghis Khan. At Terelji, enjoy lunch at a ger camp before walking through the picturesque hinterland to the iconic Turtle Rock and Temple of Meditation. Return to Ulaanbaatar

Day 17: Travel to Karakorum
Today you’ll cross the Central Mongolian Steppe to reach the Bayan Gobi sand dunes where you’ll explore among the sand dunes. After another lunch at a ger camp, continue to Karakorum where you’ll visit the city’s museum before a walk to Turtle Stone Hill.

Day 18: Wild horses of Khustai
This morning, visit Erdene Zuu early in the morning to see the monks doing their morning chants. Then, visit a nomadic family who’ll show you have to prepare a traditional dish which you’ll enjoy for lunch. From here, travel to Khustai National Park, home to Mongolia’s famous horses. Spend some time admiring them in the early evening light before continuing to your premium ger camp.

Day 19: Return to Ulaanbaatar
Head back to Ulaanbaatar, where on arrival you’ll enjoy lunch before having an afternoon at leisure. This evening, get together for a farewell dinner.

At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport for your flight home, arriving the same or following day.
