Start the New Year with a walk on the Great Wall
Days 1-2: Fly overnight to Shanghai
Take an overnight flight to the city of Shanghai. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is free for you to start exploring.

Day 3: Christmas Day in Shanghai
Start Christmas Day with a visit to the Yu Gardens and a stroll through the old town. Then head to the Bund to admire the colonial architecture before lunch at the renowned Lost Heaven restaurant. Later, wonder through one of the festive markets before a cruise on the Huangpu River. This evening, enjoy a German-style feast.

Day 4: Zhujiajiao Water Town
Head out of the city to visit Zhujiajiao, one of the water towns built on the old canal system. Explore the ancient buildings and waterways before returning to Shanghai for a walk through Tianzifang, the arts district.

Day 5: Fly to Xian
Today, fly to Xian, the ancient former capital. In the afternoon, visit a local brewery for a tasting before exploring the Muslim Quarter.

Day 6: Terracotta Warriors
Spend the morning marveling at the Terracotta Warriors, learning about the restoration efforts and visiting a workshop where they’re being recreated. Later, stroll along the ancient city walls. In the evening, enjoy a dinner of traditional Shui Jiao dumplings before watching a Tang Dynasty dance.

Day 7: Giant Pandas
Travel to a conservation park that is home to the rare Qinling four: giant pandas, golden monkeys, crested ibises and takins. Here, you’ll also be able to see 20 other native species as well as Qizai, the world’s only known brown panda.

Day 8: Bullet Train to Beijing
Board a bullet train to Beijing. In the evening, enjoy a spectacular acrobatics show.

Day 9: New Years Eve
Start the day with a walk through Tiananmen Square before heading into the Forbidden City, a complex of over 900 buildings. Later, celebrate New Years with dinner and drinks in the atmospheric hutongs.

Day 10: New Years Day on the Great Wall
Start your year with a walk along one of the world’s most iconic landmarks – the Great Wall. Take in the scenery and enjoy a champagne toast. In the afternoon, visit a jade factory before wandering through the gardens of the summer palace. End the day with a classic Peking duck dinner.

Day 11: Fly Beijing to UK
Fly back to the UK, arriving the same or following day.
