Days 1-2: Fly overnight to Beijing
Fly to China’s historical capital. Depending on your time of arrival, the day is yours to start exploring

Day 3: Christmas on the Great Wall
Enjoy Christmas Day with a walk on the Great Wall of China, where you can admire the panoramic views. In the afternoon, visit the Summer Palace before indulging in a Christmas meal.

Day 4: Imperial Beijing
Begin your day of exploring with a stroll across Tiananmen Square towards the Forbidden City. Later soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the Temple of Heaven where you can watch or take part in a dance lesson. In the evening, see a fascinating Chinese Acrobatic show.

Day 5: Xian City Walls
Board a bullet train, the starting point of the fabled Silk Road. Stroll along the 14th Century walls that enclose the old town. This evening, enjoy a feast of Shui Jiao dumplings and a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing.

Day 6: Terracotta Warriors
Visit one of the 20th Century’s most important archaeological discoveries: the Terracotta Warriors. Later wander through the Muslim Quarter.

Day 7: Bullet Train to Chengdu
In the morning, visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the Xian Museum before boarding a bullet train to Chengdu.

Day 8: Leshan Grand Buddha
Travel to Leshan to visit the world’s largest stone-carved Buddha, with a short boat trip to view it from the river. Return to Chengdu, visiting Huanglongxi en-route

Day 9: New Years Eve with the pandas
On New Year’s Eve, visit the famous Panda Conservation Centre to see these charismatic animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat. Later, visit the ancient World Heritage Dujiangyan Irrigation project. Sample a delicious New Year’s meal this evening, inspired by the local Sichuan cuisine.
Day 10: Chengdu
Enjoy a free day to explore Chengdu independently.

Day 11: Fly to the UK
Fly back to the UK, arriving home the same or following day

Visit the Leshan Grand Buddha
Head to Leshan to see the world’s largest stone-carved Buddhist statue. Take a boat ride to see it looming over the water.

For Christmas Dinner, try a local Beijing delicacy – Peking Duck
