Travelling between two great capital cities, on this tour you’ll experience China’s highlights by land from Beijing, before boarding a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in Shanghai to cross the East China Sea to Japan, where you’ll port among the natural beauty of Kyushu Island and the rich history of Honshu, the adventure ending with a day discovering Tokyo.

Days 1-2: Fly overnight to Beijing
Take an overnight flight to China’s capital. On arrival, you’ll transfer to your hotel before having rest of the day at leisure.

Today you’ll the chance to walk along the iconic Great Wall, perhaps climbing to one its watchtowers if you’re feeling energetic. Afterwards visit a jade factory before spending the afternoon admiring the gardens of the Summer Palace.

Day 4: Imperial Beijing
Begin your day of exploration at the famous Tiananmen Square, before venturing into the Forbidden City, home to 250-acres of halls, palaces & gardens. Later, admire the Temple of Heaven before enjoying the local delicacy of Peking duck for dinner

Day 5: Travel to Pingyao
Take a bullet train to Pingyao, a city that is home to China’s best preserved ancient city walls. On arrival, walk through the streets to see the Qing Dynasty Yamen Building and the Rishengchang Financial House Museum

Day 6: Travel to Xian
Enjoy a morning at leisure, during which you can join an optional noodle making class (at your own expense). Then, board a bullet train to Xian.

Spend the morning viewing the iconic Terracotta Warriors before visiting a workshop where they’re intricately recreated. Then, take a walk along the city walls that enclose the old city. Day 8: Train to Chengdu

Today, visit the Dujiangyan Panda Base, located at the foot of the nearby mountains to learn about the resident pandas. While here, you can choose to take part in a volunteer experience (at your own expense).

Transfer to Chongqing where you’ll board your Yangtze River cruise vessel. Spend the next three days sailing downstream, admiring the landscapes and taking small boat trips down side-streams.

Day 13: Train to Shanghai
The cruise vessel arrives in Yichang where you’ll disembark. Transfer to the train station to take a bullet point to Shanghai
