Days 1-2: Fly overnight to Changsha
Fly overnight to Changsha in the Hunan province. Depending on the time you arrive, you may be able to start exploring independently.

Day 3: Explore Changsha
In the morning, visit the Yuelu Academy, a historic hub of learning before travelling to Zhangjiajie. Here you’ll take a night tour of 72 Qilou’s spectacular buildings, including the largest Tujia stilted building in the world.

Day 4: Avatar Mountains
Begin your day with a ride up the 326-metre tall Bailong glass elevator. From the top, you can admire the views of Hallelujah Mountain before you continue onto Emperor Mountain and Helong Park. Take a cable car down to travel to the Jinbian Steam and Ten-Mile Natural Gallery as you ride on a train. End the day with a relaxing cruise on Lake Baofeng.

Day 5: Zhangjiajie Glass Skywalk
Brave the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge this morning before taking the world’s longest cable car to the heights of Tianmen Mountain. Once at the top of the mountain, see Tianmen Cave, ‘Heaven’s Door’ and walk along the glass skywalk nicknamed,’ walk of faith.’

Day 6: Fenhuang Ancient Town
Travel by road to Fenghuang Ancient Town. Visit the former residence of Shen Congwen before having the rest of the evening at leisure to explore this charming town.

Day 7: Cruise the Tuojiang River
Enjoy a relaxing cruise along the Tuojiang River before boarding a bullet train to Chengdu.

Day 8: Giant Pandas
Spend the morning at the city’s famous Panda Conservation Centre, getting to know the giant pandas. Later, spend some time watching the world go by at People’s Park before heading to the local food markets for dinner at your leisure.

Day 9: Huanglong Pools
Catch the bullet train to Nine Villages Valley. On arrival, spend the afternoon exploring the vivid Huanglong Pools.

Day 10: Nine Villages Valley
Enjoy a whole day to explore the awe-inspiring Nine Villages Valley national park, including the Long Lake, Five Coloured Lake and the Nuorilang Falls.

Day 11: Shuzeng Village
Head to Shuzeng Village today, where you’ll spend some time with a local Tibetan family, who will introduce you to daily life in the region. In the afternoon, stroll by Rhinoceros Lake, Tiger Lake and finally Reed Lake before dining on traditional Tibetan dishes for dinner.

Day 12: Chongqing’s Hongya Cave
Travel to Chongqing by bullet train. Visit the Hongya Cave to admire this 11-storey stilt building, constructed in the traditional Bayu style. In the evening, visit the food markets to find dinner at leisure, with a local guide on hand to make recommendations.

Day 13: Black Mountain Valley
Head out of Chongqing on a day trip to Black Mountain Valley, a serene area full of dramatic mountains, valleys and waterfalls.

Day 14: Dazu Rock Carvings
Visit Dazu today. Here you’ll find thousands of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucianist symbols carved in the rock faces. Enjoy the day to explore before returning to Chongqing.

Day 15: Depart Chongqing
Depart Chongqing today, arriving back in the UK either the same or following day.
