Days 1-2: Fly Overnight to Kunming
Fly to Kunming. Upon arrival, you have the rest of the day to relax or begin exploring independently.

Day 3: Explore the Stone Forest
Explore the formations of the Stone Forest, home to limestone pillars that create the illusion of a forest. Return to Kunming and sit down for a meal of Across the Bridge Noodles. After dinner, you may wish to see a performance.

Day 4: Discover Dali
Travel to Dali, exploring the old quarter on arrival. After this, head to the Three Pagodas and have a stroll along Foreigners’ Street.

Day 5: Erhai Lake Cruise
Cruise across Erhai Lake this morning. Take time to admire the scenery before having the afternoon to spend as you wish.

Day 6: Travel Lijiang
In the morning, explore Xizhou village, where you can look around the market. Drive to Lijiang later on, where you’ll visit Black Dragon Pool for brilliant views of the nearby mountains.

Day 7: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
Take cable car up this majestic mountain, giving you the chance to explore one of the high meadows. Return to Lijiang, stopping in Baisha to see some Ming Dynasty frescos and visit the Embroidery School.

Day 8: Tiger Leaping Gorge
Travel to the 3,000m deep Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the country’s most breathtaking sights. Head back to Lijiang where you’ll explore the old quarter.

Day 9: Fly to Chengdu
Fly to Chengdu. In the evening, spend some time in the night food markets, with a guide on hand with recommendations.

Day 10: Leshan Grand Buddha
Head to Leshan, famous for its Grand Buddha, while stands at 71m tall. Witness the magnificent statue while on the river it overlooks. Later, continue to Mount Emei (Emeishan).

Day 11: Explore Mount Emeishan
Travel to the summit of the mountain via cable car and spend the day exploring.

Days 12-13: Nine Villages Valley
Transfer to Chengdu to catch the bullet train the Nine Villages Valley. Spend the next day exploring the national park’s forests, lakes and peaks.

Day 14: Huanglong Pools
Travel to Huanglong Valley, home of pools of bright colours, caused by mineral deposits. Visit the Huanglong Valley Temple before returning to Chengdu on the bullet train.

Day 15: Chengdu Panda Reserve
Visit the famous Panda conservation centre to learn about these lovable creatures. Stroll through People’s Park in the afternoon, before visiting a teahouse and Matchmakers Corner. End the day with a delicious Sichuanese meal.

Day 16: Fly Chengdu to UK
After breakfast, fly to the UK, arriving the same or following day.

Xizhou Village Market
Visit the village of Xizhou, where you’ll wander the local markets and meet members of the Naxi minority community.
Visit Matchmakers Corner
While in Chengdu, head to Matchmakers Corner, where partners search for partners for their children.
Go Beyond
Venture off the beaten track to explore fascinating destinations away from the tourist trail. With smaller group sizes and greater flexibility, you will discover the local culture in depth and see sights rarely witnessed by other travellers. These tours may take you away from the comforts of home but will reward you with the experiences of a lifetime.
There will usually be no more than 28 travellers in each group although you may encounter other Wendy Wu tour groups while you are travelling.
This tour has a physical rating of 4. A good level of fitness is required as you can expect to be walking, or taking part in a physical activity like cycling, for longer periods of time on several days throughout the tour, and may be required to tackle some more challenging terrain.
