Days 1-2: Fly to Medan
Fly overnight to Medan in North Sumatra. On arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure before a welcome dinner and briefing in the evening.

Day 3: Medan
Explore the city on a motorised becak tour, visiting the Deli Tua Market and a local home industry producing traditional snacks and cakes. Later, continue by road to Bukit Lawang.

Day 4: Gunung Leuser National Park
Wake up early to take a guided trek through Gunung Leuser National Park, searching for orangutans and other rainforest wildlife. Later, visit a local market before joining a hands-on cooking class to learn how to prepare North Sumatran dishes.

Day 5: Berastagi
This morning, travel to Berastagi, visiting a traditional Batak village to see its distinctive wooden communal houses and to learn about their culture.

Day 6: Sipiso Piso Waterfall
Leave Berastagi and travel to Parapat. Along the way, stop at another Batak village and at the Sipiso Piso Waterfall. Then, continue to the harbour to catch a ferry to Samosir Island on Lake Toba.

Day 7: Lake Toba
Spend the day exploring Samosir Island by boat, visiting traditional Batak Toba villages along the shoreline. Stop at Ambarita to see the stone chairs and tables once used by Siallagan royal gatherings, then continue to Tomok to visit the tombs of the Sidabutar kings.

Day 8: Fly to Jakarta
Return to mainland Sumatra, then transfer to Kualanamu International Airport for your flight to Jakarta.

Day 9: Discover Jakarta
Explore Jakarta’s history today, beginning with a visit to Batavia, the colonial Old Town where you’ll see Batavia Square and visit Fatahillah Museum to learn about the city’s colonial past. In the evening, sampling local favourite on a food tour of Sabang Street.

Day 10: Prambanan Temple
Take a flight to Yogyakarta. On arrival, visit Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia which is dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

Day 11: Candirejo Village & Borobudur
Today, visit Candirejo to get a taste of traditional Javanese life. Take a horse cart ride through the village learning about family practices and local traditions. Later, visit Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist Temple, known for its 504 statures of Buddha.

Day 12: Yogyakarta to Bromo
This morning, take the train to Mojokerto before travelling to Bromo. Here you’ll stay overnight near the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

Day 13: Mt Bromo Sunrise
Rise early this morning to take a jeep ride to the Bromo viewpoint where you can watch the sun rise over the volcano. After, explore the Sea of Sand, a landscape of volcanic ash and craters. This afternoon, continue to the charming city of Malang.

Day 14: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall
Spend a day exploring the region around Malang, visiting the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, one of East Java’s most impressive.

Day 15: Fly to Flores Island
Transfer to the airport for a flight to Labuan Bajo, a small town on Flores Island. On arrival, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 16: Komodo Dragons
Hop on a speedboat to visit the famous Komodo Island, home to the Komodo Dragons.

Day 17: Fly to Bajawa
Head to the airport for a short flight to Bajawa

Day 18: Bena Traditional Village
Start the day with a drive to Wolobobo to take in the views of Mounts Ineries and Ebulobo. Continue to traditional villages including Luba and Bena, know for its megalithic culture. Then, enjoy a relaxing session at the Soa Hot Springs.

Day 19: Moni
Travel from Bajawa to Moni, passing villages, mountains, churches and coastal viewpoints.

Day 20: Mount Kelimutu
Arrive in the highland town of Moni, nestled at the base of Mount Kelimutu, before continuing to the famous tri-coloured crater lakes. Then visit Wologai Village, renowned for its traditional Lionese houses and rich cultural heritage.

Day 21: Fly to Bali
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Bali. On arrival, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 22: Departure
Head to the airport for your flight back to the UK, arriving the following day.
