See the highlights of Japan on this extensive cruise and tour. Begin your adventure on land as you explore Tokyo, Mount Fuji and Kyoto. Following this, you’ll board a cruise that takes you around the coast of Honshu, Japan’s largest island, with a visit to Busan in South Korea along the way. Finish with a visit to the ancient city of Nikko
Days 1-2: Fly to Tokyo
Take an overnight flight to Japan’s capital. On arrival meet your guide and check into your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, start exploring the city independently.

Day 3: Explore Tokyo
Visit some of Tokyo’s main landmarks today, including the Sensoji temple, the Sky Tree and the Meiji Jingu Shrine. You’ll also get to attend a sushi making masterclass.

Day 4: Snow Monkeys
Head further inland to Jigokudani Monkey Park to visit the hot springs where the iconic Snow monkeys can be found bathing in the waters. Visit the Zenkoji Temple before transferring to Nagano. Try out a onsen before enjoying a Kaiseki dinner in your Ryokan.

Day 5: Mount Fuji
Drive to Mount Fuji, perhaps pausing at Oishi Park to take in the views (weather dependent). Take a mini cruise on Lake Ashi before ascending up Mount Komagatake via cable car. Later in the day, board the bullet train to Kyoto.

Days 6-7: Kyoto
Spend two days exploring Kyoto’s historical sights, including Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavilion, the garden of Ryoanji and the torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine. During you time here, you’ll enjoy a kaiseki dinner and a sukiyaki lunch.

Day 8: Board the Azamara Pursuit
After breakfast, head to the cruise terminal in Kobe to board the Azamara Pursuit, your home for the next 13 nights.

Day 9: Cruise – Kobe
The ship remains in Kobe today, giving you the opportunity to explore the city or the facilities onboard.

Day 10: Cruise – Explore Kochi
Dock in Kochi today, home to a Global Geopark coastline.

Day 11: Cruise – Explore Hiroshima
Arrive in Hiroshima where you can visit the tranquil Peace Park

Day 12: Cruise – Explore Kitakyushu
Sitting on the north coast of Kyushu, Kitakyushu is the perfect gateway to nearby natural wonders and historical sights

Day 13: Cruise – Explore Sasebo
Today the ship ports at Sasebo, famous for its beautiful bay filled with over 200 rocky islands.

Day 14: Cruise – Explore Busan
Sail to South Korea where you’ll stop in city of Busan

Day 15: Cruise – Explore Sakaiminato
Arriving back in Japan, you’ll stop in town of Saikminato, surrounded by spectacular nature.

Day 16: Cruise – Explore Kanazawa
The ship docks in Kanazawa today, where you can explore classical architecture and visit one of Japan’s famous gardens.

Day 17: Cruise – Explore Niigata
Visit the city of Niigata, known for its rice and sake

Day 18: Cruise – Explore Akita
Having sailed northwards along the coast, you’ll arrive in Akita, where you can get a glimpse of the samurai way of life in Kakunodate.

Day 19: Cruise – Explore Aomori
Enjoy a day to explore the charming seaside resort of Aomori, which offers skiing in the winter.

Day 20: At Sea
Relax onboard the ship today as you sail along Japan’s east coast.

Day 21: Tokyo
The ship arrives at Yokohama, where you’ll disembark the ship and transfer to Tokyo. Check into your hotel before having the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 22: Nikko
Leave Tokyo behind to visit ancient Nikko. Visit the Shikyo bridge before enjoying a ‘yuba’ lunch. In the afternoon, visit the lavish Toshugu Shrine and Taiyuinbyo. Then return to Tokyo.

Day 23: Depart Tokyo
Fly to the UK, arriving home the same or following day.
