Days 1-2: Fly to Vientiane
Fly overnight to Vientiane. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Vientiane
This tranquil city on the Mekong near the Thai border features the Patuxai Victory Monument and key temples like Wat Sisaket and Wat Phra Keo. In the afternoon, visit Buddha Park, home to over 200 unique statues blending Buddhist and Hindu imagery, created by a shamanic priest 60 years ago.

Day 4: Travel to Vang Vieng
Today, you will experience a high-speed train journey from Vientiane to Vang Vieng. This comfortable modern train offers a surprising contrast in an otherwise beautifully rustic country. Upon arrival in Vang Vieng, enjoy time at leisure before dinner.

Day 5: Vang Vieng
Explore Vang Vieng’s beautiful countryside, venturing through some of the many hillside caves that belong here. Enjoy a leisurely walk strolling along the Nam Song River. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 6: Luang Prabang & Kuang Si Waterfall
This morning, take the high-speed train north to Luang Prabang in just over an hour. After lunch, explore the city on a walking tour, visiting Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Visoun, and the Royal Palace museum. Later, visit Kuang Si waterfall to relax, paddle, or swim in its turquoise pools.

Day 7: Morning Alms & Pak Ou Caves
Rise early to witness Luang Prabang’s Takbat alms ceremony, then try making traditional Saa paper at a local studio. Later, cruise the Mekong to the sacred Pak Ou caves, home to hundreds of miniature Buddha statues, before returning to Luang Prabang in the afternoon.

Day 8: Uxo Visitor Centre & Elephant Sanctuary
Visit Elephant Village, a sanctuary caring for rescued elephants since 2001. Meet the elephants, learn from their mahouts, and tour the hospital and museum. Take a Lao long boat to Tad Sae waterfall for swimming or relaxing before lunch. Later, visit the UXO Visitor Centre to learn about clearing unexploded bombs from the Vietnam War era.

Day 9: Luang Prabang – Don Khong
Fly to Pakse and drive to Champassak to explore Wat Phou, a UNESCO-listed Khmer temple complex. Then continue to Khong Island, the largest in the peaceful Si Phan Don archipelago, where you’ll stay for two nights.

Day 10: Rivers & Waterfalls
In Si Phan Don (‘4000 Islands’), enjoy a slow pace and scenic river views. Visit Khone Phapheng, Southeast Asia’s largest waterfall by volume, then explore Khone Island’s French colonial buildings and the dramatic Liphi Waterfall, known as the Devil’s Corridor.

Day 11: Bolaven Plateau – Pakse
This morning, drive to Pakse with stops at Tad Yuang and Tad Fane waterfalls. Explore a coffee plantation on the Bolaven Plateau to learn about coffee cultivation and roasting. Enjoy dinner in Pakse this evening.

Day 12: Flight to Bangkok
Transfer across the border to Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand, from where you will fly to Bangkok. Enjoy time at leisure in Thailand’s capital before this evening’s farewell dinner.

According to your flight time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home today.

Dawn Ceremony at Takbat
Witness the dawn ceremony of Takbat, a daily ritual which sees the saffron-robed monks of Luang Prabang’s monasteries collect alms, in the form of food, from the local people who line the streets.

Elephant Sanctuary
Visit Elephant Village, a sanctuary which has been caring for rescued elephants since 2001. Learn all about these majestic creatures and discover how their mahouts communicate with them.

Bolaven Plateau Coffee Plantation
Uncover the unspoilt beauty of Bolaven Plateau and visit a coffee plantation to find out more about the traditional planting, harvesting and roasting process which has been in place since French colonial times.
