Days 1-2 – Arrive Kotugoda
Fly overnight to Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo. Here you’ll be greeted by your National Escort (from Wendy Wu Tours) before transferring to Kotugoda for an overnight stay. The rest of the day is at leisure

Day 3 – Travel to Anuradhapura
Travel to Anuradhapura the ancient capital and first kingdom of Sri Lanka. Delve into the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site, where amongst its greatest treasures you’ll find a breathtaking 13-meter-tall statue of Lord Buddha, skillfully carved from solid granite. As you wander through this hallowed ground, you’ll encounter numerous other significant shrines and monuments that contribute to Anuradhapura’s prestigious status as the inaugural kingdom of Sri Lanka.

Day 4 – Wilpattu & Nachchaduwa
Today you explore Wilpattu, with its diverse ecosystem, a haven for a wide array of wildlife and bird species. Among the many fascinating creatures are spotted deer, sambhur, barking deer, wild boar, wild buffalo, sloth bear, mongoose, crocodile, and the splendid peacocks. However, the true stars of the park are the elusive leopards and magnificent wild elephants. In the evening experience sunset at Nachchaduwa Lake.

Day 5 – Minneriya National Park
Head to Sigiriya where you will have time to relax until your afternoon visit to Minneriya National Park. While the elephants are the highlight of the park, you may also encounter some of the numerous species of birds, amphibians, reptile & fish species as well as plenty of beautiful butterflies. The park is also home to rare bamboo trees, unique to Minneriya.

Day 6 – Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa
An early start as you visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, standing tall as a UNESCO World Heritage site and worthy of its moniker ‘Fortress in the Sky’. Spend the day relaxing before you embark on your evening adventure – the Loris Night Trail. This thrilling guided walk takes you on a nocturnal quest in search of the elusive grey slender loris, a captivating primate hidden amidst the scrublands.

Day 7 – Dambulla & Kandy
Enroute to Kandy you visit Dambulla Cave Temple, part of Sri Lanka’s Golden Triangle. The cave temples are home to numerous religious and cultural paintings and sculptures. Your evening is spent visiting the Temple of The Tooth Relic where you’ll find the palm-leaf transcripts. Conclude the day with an amazing cultural dance show.

Day 8 – Explore Kandy
Start your day with a visit to Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, a beautiful 147-acre oasis. Discover pavilions, lawns, and an Orchid House with over 1000 plants. Afterward, return to the hotel and relax until the evening’s Kandy Night Food Walk. Experience the city’s culinary delights, starting at the iconic Royal Bar. Savour local arrack before enjoying egg rotis, fresh hoppers, and some of the best kothu in Sri Lanka.

Day 9 – Kandy to Gal Oya
After a scenic drive from Kandy to Gal Oya, enjoy some leisure time before your exciting Jungle Night Walk. Day 10 – Gal Oya National Park

Day 11 – Train to Hatton
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya for your train journey to Hatton. Experience one of the most scenic journeys in Sri Lanka as you take in breathtaking views of forests, quaint villages, picturesque waterfalls and lush tea estates. Embrace the nostalgia and beauty of this classic train journey, relishing every moment.

Day 12 – Hatton
After breakfast enjoy a tour of the tea factory, an establishment that produces an impressive 16,000 kgs of tea daily. Learn about the intricate tea production process and later have lunch at a waterfall. The journey takes you through picturesque tea estates to Fairlawn Falls, where on arrival, you’ll enjoy a pleasant walk alongside the cascading waterfall.

Day 13 – Birdwatching in Hatton
This morning you will have a birdwatching experience at Camellia Hills. The lush garden is a haven for birdlife, with over 20 different species making it their home. Among the unique endemic birds, you may spot are the yellow fronted barbet, Ceylon scimitar babbler, and Sri Lankan hanging parakeet. Venture further onto the trails which are hotspots for resident, endemic and migratory birds.

Day 14 – Yala via Udawalawe
Your journey continues as you head to Yala, with a special stop at the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home along the way. This facility plays a vital role in caring for injured elephants from various regions in Sri Lanka, serving as a halfway house for orphaned elephants, providing them with care and rehabilitation.

Day 15 – Safaris
Early morning wildlife jeep safari in Yala National Park, known for its rare leopards, but also home to elephants, bears, wild boars and various bird species. Its diverse vegetation and abundant water sources attract a plethora of wildlife. Enjoy an enchanting evening safari to end an exciting day.

Today you continue to Tangalle where after check-in you have the rest of the day to relax or explore your surroundings.

Day 17 – Mirissa
Today’s early morning start is worthwhile as you embark on an exciting whale watching excursion aboard a luxury catamaran. Your naturalist guide will provide fascinating insights into local marine life, as you look out for blue whales, sperm whales and orca (killer whales). Later, visit the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, a living museum dating back to 1588.
