This Christmas, journey through the magic of Thailand. Explore the city of Bangkok, visit tea plantations in Chaing Rai and sail the Chao Phraya River

Spend Christmas Day morning at an elephant rescue sanctuary in Chiang Mai, fostering memories with these majestic creatures before sitting down to Christmas dinner in a beautiful colonial mansion. Finally, enjoy a light-hearted Boxing Day cooking class to round the trip off before your return home.

Days 1 & 2: Bangkok
Fly to Bangkok, where you’ll be met by your guide at the airport. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 3: Bangkok Highlights
Enjoy a tour of the city today, visiting the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Chinatown. Following this, board a longboat to cruise down the Chao Phraya River to Pak Khlong Talaat Flower Market.

Day 4: Floating Market & Bridge on the River Kwai
Start the day by visiting the Maeklong Railway Market in Samut Songkram before continuing to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Here, you’ll board a small boat to explore the busy canals of the market. Later in the day, head to Kanchanaburi, famous for ‘The Bridge over the River Kwai.’ Visit the Thai-Burma Railway to learn about those who were forced to build the railway, as well as the Allied War Cemetery.

Day 5: Kanchanburi – Death Railway – Bangkok
Visit Hellfire Pass and its Memorial Museum before taking a 3km walk through the pass. Then, take a short journey on the Death Railway to see more of the landscape before finally driving back to Bangkok.

Day 6: Ayutthaya – Chiang Rai
Drive out of Bangkok this morning and visit the historic ruins of Ayutthaya, the former capital of Siam. Explore the gilded palaces and gardens before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, return to Bangkok for a flight to Chiang Rai in the north.

Day 7: Chiang Rai & The Golden Triangle
This morning, admire the area known as the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. Continue to Mae Sai, the northernmost point in the country which is also an important trading town. Return to Chiang Rai for dinner.

Day 8: Tribes & Tea Plantations in Mae Salong
Today, drive through the countryside to Mae Salong Mountain, known for its hill tribes and tea plantations. Visit a plantation for a tour and a tasting before enjoying lunch at a mountain top restaurant. In the afternoon, visit a Yao Tribe and an Akha Village known as Ban Lorcha.

Day 9: The White Temple & Hmong Hilltribe Lodge
Leave Chiang Rai for a drive to explore Wat Rong Khun, the fascinating White Temple. Stop at a local market for lunch before continuing through the countryside to the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge, where you’ll be guests of the Hmong Tribe. In the evening, enjoy a barbecue dinner and a cultural show.

Day 10: Christmas Eve – Bamboo Rafting & Chiang Mai
Leave the lodge and head to Mae Daeng, where you’ll get to enjoy a relaxing trip on a bamboo raft. Afterwards, head to Chiang Mai, visiting a social enterprise café. In the afternoon, visit the city’s most important temples, Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra Singh.

Day 11: Christmas Day – Elephant Rescue & Christmas Dinner
Start Christmas Day with a visit to an elephant sanctuary in the beautiful Mesa Valley. While here, a guide will explain more about the centre and introduce you to the inhabitants. Return to the city before this afternoon’s Christmas Dinner at The House By Ginger, a stylish restaurant in a 1930s colonial mansion.

Day 12: Cooking Class & Wat Doi Suthep
This morning, learn to cook traditional Thai cuisine in a cooking class, enjoying your creations for lunch. Later, drive to the hilltop temple of Wat Doi Suthep. In the evening, enjoy a Khantoke dinner while watching a traditional performance by various hill tribes.

Day 13: Departure

Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
