Day 1: Travel to Saigon
Head to the airport for an overnight flight to Saigon
Day 2: Arrival in Saigon
On arrival in Saigon, transfer to your hotel where you’ll be staying for the next three nights. The rest of the day is then free for you to spend as you wish.
Day 3: Saigon
Start the day with a guided tour of the city to see its iconic landmarks. Begin at the Reunification Palace, then visit the War Remnant Museum and the Ben Thanh Market. You’ll also see the Central Post Office, a gem of French colonial architecture. After returning to the hotel, the afternoon is yours to use as you wish, whether you want to carry on exploring or simply want to relax.
Day 4: Cu Chi Tunnels
Head out of the city this morning to reach the Cu Chi Tunnels, which served as a strategic base for the Viet Cong, and feature everything from command centres to field hospitals. See sections of the tunnels up close and even get the opportunity to experience a firing range with period weapons. On returning to Saigon, the rest of the day is free.
Day 5: Board the ship
In the afternoon, transfer to the port to board the Riviera Alba. After a welcome reception and safety briefing, join your fellow passengers for a drink and dinner.
Day 6: Quoi Son – Cho Lach
After breakfast, board a sampan for a journey through narrow waterways to reach land. Take a leisurely stroll and visit a traditional coconut candy workshop. Continue with a visit to local apiaries where you can sample fresh harvested honey or enjoy warm honey tea. Enjoy a live performance of Don Ca Tai Tu, a genre of Southern Vietnamese folk music before returning to the boat. After lunch, continue sailing along the Mekong, disembarking at Cho Lach to visit local workshops producing planter pots. Enjoy a walk to meet farmers and see how traditional bamboo fish traps are made. Return to the ship
Day 7: Gieng Island – Long Thuan
This morning, take a guided tour of Cu Lao Gieng, fames for its mango orchards. Begin with a stop in a traditional village to see bamboo baskets being handcrafted. Visit a local farm to sample some mangos before heading to a Catholic Church to admire its architecture. Finally, visit one of the island’s oldest French colonial-style homes. In the afternoon, board a sampan for a cruise through the canals of Long Thuan village. Take a short walk to a Taoist temple before stopping at a local house to watch a unicorn dance performance
Day 8: Cruising the Mekong
Enjoy a full day to relax on board the ship as you sail into Cambodia. You can join in the activities on offer, from hands-on cooking workshops to culture presentations. Or simply find a cosy spot to relax and admire the view. You’ll reach Phnom Penh later in the evening.
Day 9: Phnom Penh
Hop on a tuk-tuk this morning for your guided tour of the city. The first stop is the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda where you can wonder the halls and marvel at the architecture, including the Pagoda’s floor made of up to 5,000 silver tiles. Next, head to the National Museum which houses the world’s largest collection of Khmer art. The afternoon is at leisure before meeting up to watch a traditional Apsara dance performance followed by dinner
Day 10: Phnom Penh
This morning, learn more about Cambodia’s history with a visit to Choeung Ek, one of the most well-known Killing Fields to see the memorial. The next stop s the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum where thousands were imprisoned under the Khmer Rouge regime. The afternoon is free for you to spend as you wish before the ship departs Phnom Penh later in the day.
Day 11: Wat Roka Kaong – Opopel Village
Today, visit the sacred temple of Wat Roka Kaong, which features a mix of wooden structures and striking golden pillars. You’ll also find the temple of Preah Keo Preah Kor and the remnants of Bak Sei Chamkrong within the grounds. Return to the ship and sail to Opopel Village. On arrival, step ashore for a guided walk, getting the chance to meet locals and visit the village school to get a glimpse into daily education in the region. Head back to the ship, pausing at a local monastery for a brief visit. This evening, enjoy a farewell gathering including a special Cambodian dinner.
Day 12: Kampong Cham – Siem Reap
Disembark the ship this morning and travel by coach through the countryside. Along the way, stop at the historic Kampong Kdei Bridge, an Angkor-era structure. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue onto Siem Reap where you’ll check into your hotel before having the rest of the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, watch a performance by the Phare Cambodian Circus which tells stories rooted in Cambodia’s culture and history.
Day 13: Temples of Angkor
Spend the day exploring the fascinating temples at Angkor. Begin early to see site bathed in the early morning light. The first stop today is the city of Angkor Thom, once heart of the Khmer Empire. Inside you’ll find the Bayon temple, which has over 50 stone towers. After a break for lunch at leisure, continue to Ta Prohm, which has remained largely untouched. End the day with a visit to the majestic Angkor Wat before dinner at leisure.
Day 14: Siem Reap and Hanoi
Enjoy a relaxing morning at leisure before heading to the airport this afternoon. Fly to Hanoi and transfer to your hotel. Dinner is included this evening.
Day 15: Hanoi
This morning, take a guided tour of Hanoi. See the remarkable Temple of Literature, the country’s first university before heading to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. After the tour, transfer back to the hotel for some free time, with late check-out allowing you to freshen up before heading to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
Day 16: Arrive home
