Days 1-2: Fly to Saigon
Take an overnight flight to Saigon. The rest of the day on arrival is yours to spend at leisure before a welcome dinner.

Day 3: Explore Saigon
Spend the morning seeing the sights, visiting the Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Reunification Museum. Later, head to the Cu Chi Tunnels to gain an insight in the Vietnam War and meet a Vietnamese veteran.

Day 4: Discover the Mekong Delta
Travel to the Mekong Delta, taking to the canals by boat to admire its beauty and catch a glimpse of daily life. Return to Saigon, stopping en route at a chocolate factory.

Day 5: Fly to Danang
Transfer to the airport, where you’ll board a flight to Danang. On arrival, travel to Hoi An.

Day 6: Hoi An on foot
Head out on a walking tour of Hoi An, spotting hidden temples and historic merchant house and visiting the famous Japanese Bridge. At Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall, receive a personalised blessing in a symbolic red envelope.

Day 7: Fly to Hanoi
Transfer to the airport and fly to Hanoi. On arrival, visit the Museum of Ethnology before hopping into cyclos for a ride through the Old Quarter.

Day 8: Explore Hanoi
Venture out on foot to explore Hanoi’s rich history. Starting at the northern gate at the citadel of Thang Long, continue to Cua Bac Church and along Phan Dinh Phung, the city’s most beautiful street. Pause to explore Quan Thang Temple and browse the Chau Long market. Later, meet a local master at a paper workshop, where you’ll learn the art of calligraphy. End the day with a visit to a Yen Thai community.

Day 9: Board your cruise
Travel to Halong Bay and board your river cruise vessel. Enjoy lunch before sailing into the bay. In the evening, enjoy a welcome cocktail.

Day 10: Explore Halong Bay
Spend the morning sailing around the bay. Stop at Viet Hai Village, boarding a buggy to explore vegetable gardens and rural houses. Back on the water, cruise to Lan Ha Bay to visit a floating fishing house.

Day 11: More Halong Bay
Take to the water in a kayak or board a basket boat to visit ‘Dark and Bright Cave’, admiring the stalagmites. In the afternoon, enter the Kinh Thay River, anchoring near Hai Phong.

Day 12: Kinh Thay River
Observe lift on the river, a key commercial waterway. In the afternoon, visit the Thanh Ha Commune, considered the birthplace of Vietnam’s water puppets. Stroll around the village before enjoy a private puppet show.

Day 13: Day River
Sail along the lower Red and Day rivers in the morning. Take a tour of the ship before lunch. Head onshore to explore Co Chat silk village, where you can meet local craftspeople, watching them make silk.

Day 14: Red River Delta
Sail towards Ninh Binh, mooring at Khanh Thien Village. Disembark to visit Phat Diem and its cathedral. Explore Khanh Thien Village and discover the local handicrafts. In the evening, enjoy a performance of ‘Chau Van’ singing by the locals.

Day 15: Ninh Banh
Explore Ninh Banh, boarding small rowing boats to pass through landscapes of paddy fields. Return to the ship and sail upstream towards Hanoi.

Day 16: Historic Hanoi
Arrive back in Hanoi. Tour the remains of the notorious ‘Hanoi Hilton’ prison. Then soak up the tranquillity of the Temple of Literature and visiting Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum. Then walk through the Old Quarter, stopping to try an egg coffee before returning to the ship for a relaxed evening.

Day 17: Bat Trang Village
Visit Bat Trang ceramic village before returning to the ship to watch a local dance troupe perform a lion dance on the pier. Set sail for the upper reaches of the Red River. Stop at a village dedicated to the production of ‘non la’, Vietnam’s famous conical hat. Then, visit the Thay Pagoda.

Day 18: Upper Red River
Disembark at Duang Lam to admire its intricate architecture and culture. In the afternoon, head to the smithing village of Ly Nhan to see traditional production techniques. Sail upstream this evening while enjoying a farewell dinner.

Day 19: Veit Tri
Say goodbye to your river cruise vessel and travel back to Hanoi. On route, visit Hung Lo Temple where you can enjoy a performance of traditional folk music. Sit down for lunch at a local restaurant before enjoying the evening at leisure.

Day 20: Fly to UK
Transfer to the airport and fly home, arriving home the same or following day.
