Take part in this 15 day Fly drive tour beginning and ending in Calgary on a round trip to see the majestic Canadian Rockies, visiting the stunning Banff National Park, the marvellous Lake Louise, the amazing Jasper National park and the lovely Edmonton.
Depart the UK on your scheduled flight to Calgary. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and proceed to your hotel.
Today is free for you to explore the vibrant, cowboy city of Calgary. Enjoy the mixture of historic and modern attractions with visits to Olympic Park, home to the 1988 Winter Olympic Games and Heritage Park Historical Village.
Today you start your epic journey into the majestic Rockies. Leave Calgary behind, witness a never-ending procession of mountains, glistening lakes and jagged peaks, providing plenty of photo opportunities. Once in Banff, take the Banff Gondola for panoramic views of the Bow Valley before enjoying the great alpine village atmosphere back in town.
A short drive today, but wonderfully scenic as you journey toward Lake Louise. Offering endless outdoor activities, this is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors. Surrounded by soaring mountain peaks, the majestic Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake, your hotel provides an ideal base.
Driving distance: Your journey continues through the spell-binding Rocky Mountains. En route enjoy Icefield Parkway, one of the world’s most spectacular mountainous drives. A visit to the Columbia Icefield for an Ice Explorer ride out onto the glacier is an absolute must. Jasper is a charming mountain village offering many scenic highlights. Take the tram up Whistler Mountain or perhaps take a boat out onto Maligne Lake.
The provincial capital of Alberta, Edmonton has many attractions to keep you busy during your two-night stay. It’s also a great opportunity to do some souvenir shopping as Edmonton is home to the world’s largest shopping centre, West Edmonton Mall. The many tourist attractions, vibrant culture and extensive dining options make this a great city.
Step back in time to a prehistoric era when dinosaurs roamed the Badlands of Alberta. Drumheller is a fascinating place to visit whether you’re young or old. Spend time following the 50 kilometres Dinosaur Trail, visit the Royal Tyrell Museum of Archaeology and explore the extensive dinosaur fossil digs in this area.
Today, a short drive brings you back to Calgary where your journey began. You have the opportunity of visiting any of the attractions you may have missed on your first stay or you may decide to partake in an afternoon of shopping and picking up those last minute souvenirs. Enjoy a final meal in one of Calgary’s fantastic restaurants.
Should you wish to extend this itinerary, taking the two-day rail journey through the Rocky Mountains, ending in Vancouver, enhances the itinerary perfectly. Should you elect to leave today, return your rental car and check-in for your flight back to the UK.
