Marvel at the breathtaking views of the stunning Niagara Falls. Explore the cobblestoned streets of Old Quebec where the Upper and Lower towns welcome with ramparts, citadels and 17th and 18th-century houses or people watch from European inspired cafés.
Day 1: Arrive Toronto
Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Toronto. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel which is located in the heart of the city. Enjoy a little time to relax before meeting your Tauck Tour Director and travelling companions at the Royal Ontario Museum for a welcome dinner.
Day 2: Niagara Falls
Today you journey to thundering Niagara Falls. This morning hop onboard a boat cruise for an up-close view of the plunging waters and misty spray created by the Falls. Lunch is enjoyed in the charming, Victorian town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, before making the return journey to Toronto for an afternoon spent at your leisure.
Day 3: Thousand Islands
En route to Canada’s capital city of Ottawa, enjoy a morning cruise on the St. Lawrence River through the scenic Thousand Islands, a region of postcard-perfect island escapes, from charming cottages to mansions. Disembark in Rockport and continue to the heart of Ottawa, where your hotel is reminiscent of a French château. Dine here with views of Parliament and the Rideau Canal Locks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 4: Ottawa
Enjoy a guided visit to the city’s grand Parliament Buildings, including the House of Commons, where vaulted ceilings, marble floors and stone walls adorned by hundreds of gargoyles create a grand feel. Next, join a guided tour of the Canadian Museum of History. Dating back to 1856, it is one of Canada’s oldest public institutions and showcases Canadian history, archaeology, ethnology and cultural studies. Spend the remainder of the day enjoying city sights as you wish.
Day 5: Montreal
Before departing for French-speaking Montreal, enjoy a presentation by an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Along the way, stop for lunch at the privately owned Château Vaudreuil, set in sumptuous gardens on the shores of the Lake of Two Mountains. Once in Montreal, a local guide joins you to offer an introduction to life in the Province of Quebec.
Day 6: Montreal
Take a walking and tasting tour through Old Montreal, with cobblestone streets lit by gas lamps and city squares graced with 18th and 19th-century buildings reminiscent of the history and romance of Old World Europe.The rest of the day is yours to do as you wish.
Day 7: Montmorency Falls & Quebec City
Heading east you wind through the heart of French Canada along the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City. En route enjoy a taste of locally produced maple ice at a traditional Québecois sugar shack and some lunch. Continue on to majestic Montmorency Falls for a guided tour and a gondola ride.
Day 8: Ile D’Orleans
This morning, tour Old Quebec and discover the many faces of one of the oldest cities in North America, where ancient stone houses huddle beside churches and historical monuments. Next, you venture out of the city to historic Île d’Orléans, a French-inspired island of red-roofed farm houses and bountiful fields of agricultural produce. Savour lunch in a historic French flour mill and an afternoon cider tasting.
Day 9: Quebec City
The entire day is yours to enjoy Quebec City’s enchanting setting on the St. Lawrence River, its rich architectural legacy and its colourful past. The only fortified city north of Mexico, historic Quebec was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. Explore the cobblestoned streets of Old Quebec where the Upper and Lower towns welcome with ramparts, citadels and 17th and 18th century houses or people watch from European inspired cafés. Enjoy a farewell dinner at your hotel this evening.
Day 10: Journey Home
Time for some last minute sightseeing and shopping before you transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
