Explore the distinct northwest region of Croatia, which boasts rolling hills, fertile valleys, and a captivating blend of Croatian and Italian influences. Discover the region’s rich culinary and cultural offerings, with a side trip to Italy’s Trieste to highlight the historical connections.
Journeying south along the coast, your tour includes stops in Zadar, visits to Croatia’s largest islands of Krk and Brač, and ends in the central-southern region, where highlights include Trogir and the historic city of Split, home to the renowned Emperor Diocletian Palace.
Day 1: Arrival in Split
Fly to Split. Upon arrival, transfer to the coastal town of Opatija and check into your hotel
Day 2: Opatija
Enjoy a guided tour of the resort town of Opatija before having time at leisure to explore at your own pace.
Day 3: Krk Island
Visit one of the largest islands off Croatia today. You’ll cross the 1,430m bridge that separates it from the mainland before stopping in Krk for a guided tour. Explore it’s ancient buildings including the 5th Century cathedral and the castle by the sea. After the guided tour, you’ll have some free time to find some lunch before continuing to the village of Vrbinik. Here you’ll stop at a local winery for a tasting, paired with homemade cheese before returning to the hotel
Day 4: Trieste and Slovenian Wine tasting
Drive through Slovenia and into Italy where you’ll head to Trieste. During a guided tour, you’ll see the city’s highlights, including the old town and the Miramare Castle. Nearby, you’ll also see the Roman Theatre and San Giusto Cathedral, known for its Byzantine mosaics. After the tour enjoy some free time before driving back to the hotel, stopping briefly at a winery in Slovenia (See Signature Tours for more information)
Day 5: Plitvice Lakes
Head to Croatia’s largest National Park, Plitvice Lakes and spend the day exploring the beautiful lakes and waterfalls. Take a boat trip out, board the land train to ride around the lakes or head off on foot along some of the wooden footpaths.
Day 6: Rovinj
Visit one of Croatia’s most picturesque coastal towns today as you travel to Rovinj. You’ve the morning at leisure to explore and take in the medieval lanes and cobbled squares. In the afternoon, head to Bani for the day’s Signature Experience (See Signature Tours for more information)
Day 7: Zadar
Take a scenic drive along the coast to Zadar. During time at leisure, you can explore the intriguing mix of Roman ruins, medieval buildings, and modern additions to the city.
Day 8: Split
Drive along the coast to Split today. On today’s walking tour, visit the fascinating palace of Emperor Diocletian which makes up the city’s Old Town. You’ll also get the chance to visit the Mestrovic Gallery, which houses masterpieces by the country’s most famous sculptor, Ivan Meštrović. Spend some time wandering through the galleries before turning to the hotel in Omis.
Day 9: Free day in Omiš
Spend the day at leisure in Omiš, either relaxing at the hotel or the beach, or exploring the old town.
Day 10: Island of Brač
Board a ferry and cross over to the island of Brač this morning. Head to Bol, where you’ll greeted by the picturesque harbour and charming cottages. Enjoy some free time to explore or relax, or evening take refreshing swim.
Day 11: Trogir
Today’s destination is the medieval town of Trogir, home to array of renaissance and Romanesque buildings. In the old town, you’ll find the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence. There’s free time here to spend as you wish before embarking on another Signature Experience (See Signature Tours for more information)
Day 12: Return home
Transfer back to the airport for your flight home

Day 4:
On the journey back from Trieste, stop at a winery in Slovenia for a tour and a tasting.
Day 6:
Head into the countryside to Bani. Here you’ll visit a restaurant that serves dishes prepared with Istrian truffles, a local delicacy.
Day 11:
In the afternoon, visit a local and learn how local delicacies are produced before ending the visit with tasting of cheese, cured meats and olive tapenades.
Plus, enjoy the more exclusive atmosphere of travelling in a small group of 25 or fewer guests.
