Day 1: Arrival in Cyprus
Fly to Cyprus where you’ll be met on arrival. Transfer to Kyrenia (crossing the United Nations Buffer Zoe) and check into your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and drinks
Day 2: Kyrenia
In the morning, enjoy a guided orientation tour of Kyrenia, visiting the old tour, harbour and the town hall square. From here, continue to the castle where you can explore its fortifications or the museum. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 3: Guzelyurt, Soli & the Palace of Vouni
Head to the northwest of the island today, visiting Guzelyurt in the foothills of the Troodos mountains. Here you’ll see the Agios Mamas Monastery alongside the Museum of Archaeology and Nature. The next stop on today’s agenda is the ancient city of Soli, where you’ll view the ruins of the Roman theatre, a nymphaeum and a temple of Athena among other ruins. A short drive from here brings you to the Palace of Vouni, believed to have been built in 500BC. The last top of the say is Lefke, next to the Green Line.
Day 4: St Hilarion & Bellapais
Today, visit the romantic St Hilarion Castle, said to be the inspiration for Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. If you’re fairly mobile, you can head inside to explore or simple enjoy the views from the castle’s café. You’ll then head to the village of Bellapais. From the hills here, you can look out over Kyrenia harbour. While here, you’ll get to see the Abbey of Peace, which also houses a museum. Return to Kyrenia in the mid-afternoon, and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 5: Nicosia
Explore the capital of Nicosia, touring the old town. Admire the city walls, the main square and the Bandabuliya covered bazaar. Another stop on the tour is the Selimnye Mosque. You’ll then have time at leisure to continue exploring, perhaps crossing the green line into south Nicosia. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant that specialises in Cypriot dishes.
Day 6: Free Day
Enjoy a full day to explore independently or relax at the hotel.
Day 7: Famagusta, Salamis & St Barnabas
Head to the east coast of Cyprus today, first visiting the Monastery of St Barnabas. You’ll then continue to the site of ancient Salamis. See the original amphitheatre as well as a gymnasium built by Emperor Hadrian. The next stop is the town of Famagusta. On a guided walking tour, see Othello’s tower, the ruins of the Venetian palace and the Mustafa Pasa Mosque. Your final stop is the abandoned resort of Varosha, once dubbed the ‘Monte Carlo of the Middle East.’ Return to the hotel.
Day 8: Return home
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home
