From ancient ruins in Syracuse to quaint Peloponnesian towns, each stop reveals layers of fascinating history. Don’t miss the iconic sights of Athens, including the legendary Acropolis. Day 1: Arrive in Malta
Fly to Malta. On arrival, transfer to your hotel before having the rest of the day at leisure to either relax or head off on some independent exploring.
Day 2: Marsaxlokk, Mdina & Valletta
This morning, head to the seaside village of Marsaxlokk before continuing to Mdina, the former capital city. Here, you’ll walk through narrow streets and pass beautiful palaces. The next stop today is Valletta. On a guided tour, you’ll get the chance to admire the history on display before have the rest of the day free.
Day 3: Gozo
Today, cross the sea to Malta’s other island, Gozo. Spend the day touring the island. Firstly, you’ll visit two prehistoric Ggantija temples, though to be some of the oldest free-standing monuments in the world. Then, travel to Victoria, where you’ll see its imposing citadel, the cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace. Travelling down the coast, you’ll reach Dwejra Bay and the inland sea before returning to the hotel.
Day 4: The Blue Grotto, Hagar Qim & Vittoriosa
Take a trip to the island’s south coast to see the Blue Grotto and nearby megalithic temples of Hagar Qim. Then, travel to the 3 cities for a short walking tour of Vittoriosa. See the Church of St Lawrence, the Inquisitor’s palace and the Maritime Museum. In the afternoon, transfer to the port to embark on Star Clipper.
Day 5: Syracuse, Sicily
Enjoy some time to get to known the Star Clipper as it sails to the city of Syracuse in Sicily. Here your walking tour takes you explore the Neapolis Archaeological Park, home to ancient ruins including an amphitheatre that is still in use today. Then, travel to the old town on Ortygia Island, discovering its charming piazzas.
Day 6: At Sea
Experience life at sea, with a full day of sailing. Enjoy the facilities on board the ship and relax on the deck’s sun loungers or by the pool.
Day 7: Pylos*
Around lunchtime, the ship arrives at the town of Pylos, a seaside town in the south of the Peloponnese. Today, you’ll tour the ruins of Nestor’s Palace on the hilltop of Ano Englianos, one of the best preserved Mycenean palaces in Greece.
Day 8: Monemvasia*
Your destination today is the town of Monemvasia, known as the ‘Gibraltar of the East.’ Travel through its medieval centre, before having some free time to wander or head up the hill to the ruins of the Upper Town.
Day 9: Nafplion*
This morning, arrive at the beautiful town of Nafplion. From here, head to Epidaurus, the site of a shrine and sanctuary dedicated to Aesculapius, the Greek god of medicine. Return to Nafplion for an afternoon at leisure. Alternatively, you can join an optional tour of Mycenae to see its maze of ruins and the Treasury of Atreus.
Day 10: Athens
Disembark the Star Clipper this morning and head towards Athens. On the way, you may choose to visit Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. Alternatively, you’ll continue to Athens to see the iconic Acropolis, dominated by the Parthenon. While here, you can explore the artifacts house in the Acropolis Museum. The rest of the day is at leisure after checking into your hotel.
Day 11: Return home
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
*Please note the ship may anchor at this port, meaning guests will be tendered ashore.
