Day 1: Arrive in Italy
Fly to Italy. On arrival in Bari or Brindisi, transfer to Lecce and check into your hotel. Once you’re settled in, enjoy a welcome drink for the chance to meet the group

Day 2: Lecce
Enjoy a full morning tour of the city, exploring it’s Jewish quarter and discovering its architectural wonders. See the Basilica di Santa Croce and the Piazza Sant’Oronzo before finishing the tour at the Piazza Duomo. The afternoon is at leisure to continue exploring. In the evening, dine at a local restaurant while enjoying a music and dance performance.

Day 3: Otranto
Head to the coast today to visit the town of Otranto. Here you’ll have free time to explore, perhaps visiting the Aragonese castle that overlooks the town. Later on, head to a local masseria or farmhouse, where you’ll see the underground olive mills before enjoying lunch. Return to Lecce.

Day 4: Alberobello and Masseria lunch
Drive towards Alberobello, stopping at another Masseria on route. Learn about the restored farmhouse before having a lunch of homemade dishes. Continue to Alberobello, where on arrival, you’ll explore the iconic conical, whitewashed trulli houses, learning about their history. After, head to Matera and check into your hotel

Day 5: Matera
This morning, join a local guide to explore the cave dwellings that the city is famous for. After, enjoy an aperitivo on a rooftop terrace and admire the views. The rest of the day is at leisure to spend as you wish before dinner at a restaurant in the Old Town.

Day 6: Bari
Travel to the Adriatic coast to visit the city of Bari. In small groups you’ll take a guided tour of the old town with a local expert, seeing its medieval fortress and grand cathedral. A highlight is a visit to Basilica di San Nicola, home to a vaulted crypt that holds the remains of Saint Nicholas. The afternoon is free for you to carry on exploring at your own pace. Return to Matera.

Day 7: Free day
Enjoy an entire day to spend as you wish, either relaxing at the hotel or exploring Matera more, with your tour manager on hand to give you recommendations. At the end of the day, return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 8: Return home
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home

Located about 20 minutes from the Old Town, this hotel features a restaurant, bar and rooftop pool. The rooms are equipped with complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities

Situated outside the city overlooking the countryside, this hotel is a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring. You’ll find both an outdoor and indoor pool, as well as comfortable patio and lounge spaces.

Alvino Relais, Matera****
Sitting by the North Gate of Matera, this hotel was once a historic mill. There’s a garden and terrace, as well as a swimming pool. The rooms offer air-conditioning, toiletries, a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

Please note the use of air conditioning and outdoor pool opening is at the discretion of the hotels. The pools usually operate from mid-May to early October, depending on weather conditions.
