Day 1: Arrival in Valencia
Fly to Valencia. On arrival, transfer by coach to the hotel where you’ll stay for the duration of the tour. In the evening, enjoy a get together with your fellow travellers with drinks and dinner.
Day 2: Valencia
Discover the city of Valencia on a coach tour this morning. See the main sights, including the City of Arts and Sciences, a fantastic collection of buildings on the port side of the city’s urban park. Disembark the coach for a walking tour through the old town with a local guide. During this tour, enter the historical Silk Exchange, a delightful Gothic buildings.
Tonight, enjoy dinner at a portside restaurant, which has brilliant views over the beach and the Mediterranean Sea.
Day 3: Elche
Drive south to the city of Elche. See the fusions of Moorish and Christian culture as you tour the city, seeing the ornate Basilica de Santa Maria and the Arab fortresses of Calaforra and Altamira. You’ll also get the chance to see the beautiful Huerto del Cura botanical gardens, home to a wonderful collection of tropical plants
There is time to explore independently before you return to Valencia in the afternoon. Enjoy another dinner in a portside restaurant this evening
Day 4: Teruel & Albarracin
Travel to Spain’s interior, where you visit Teruel in Aragon. Here you’ll see buildings in the distinctive Mudejar style, including the towns of San Martin and San Salvador. While here you may wish to visit the church of San Pedro.
Next, visit the village of Albarracin, which sits above the Gaudalaviar River. Take a walk with a local guide through the narrow lanes, passing cottages and the cathedral. From the top of the town, you’ll have brilliant views of the city ways that continue higher over the mountain ridges.
Day 5: Free day in Valencia
Today is yours to spend as you choose in Valencia, and there is plenty to see. Visit the museums, spend some time in the Parc de Capcalera or indulge in some tapas in the Central Market.
Day 6: Xativa & Albufera
This morning, visit the nearby town of Xativa, dominated by its castle. Following a guided tour of its old time, you have free time to explore at leisure.
After lunch, head back to Valencia, stopping en route at Albufera. This freshwater lake is a birdwatcher’s paradise and is also known for its rice fields. Take a cruise through the reeds and stop at a traditional Valencian barraca, a triangular thatched house to learn about the lives of the farmers in the area.
Upon returning to Valencia, the rest of the day is at leisure
Day 7: Manises & Valencia
This morning, visit nearby Manises, known for its traditional ceramic crafts. Explore the town with a guided and visit a pottery workshop before enjoying some free time for lunch. In the afternoon, return to Valencia for some more free time.
In the evening, enjoy dinner at a traditional farm villa. Learn how to make authentic paella before feasting on your creation.
Day 8: Return flight
