There’s plenty to keep you moving, from tennis and pickleball to gliding through the shallows on a sea scooter or snorkelling above the reef. Whether you’re after adrenaline, wow moments or a gentle drift on the water, Mauritius delivers it all in vivid technicolour.

Sea scooters and reef snorkelling

Right in front of the resort, Turtle Bay is known for its calm, warm waters – protected by the outer reef and perfect for snorkelling and sea scootering.

You can head straight out from shore and explore at your own pace, or join one of Neilson’s free sea-scooter taster sessions for an extra burst of fun before switching back to classic mask-and-snorkel mode whenever you like. These gentle conditions create a colourful underwater world of coral gardens, reef fish, rays and the occasional sea turtle.

Just along the coast near the local village, Balaclava Marine Park offers another protected stretch of ocean, packed with marine life and even more snorkelling adventures just a short hop away.

Catamaran sailing

Beyond the reef that shelters the lagoon, the wind picks up – ideal for a taste of catamaran sailing. Join one of our taster sessions to experience life on the water, with friendly instructors and beginner-friendly conditions.

For something faster, hop on a cat joyride. One of our instructors will take the helm and whisk you across the bay for a fun, high-speed blast. No experience needed – just sit back, enjoy the breeze and take it all in.

Windsurfing

The sheltered lagoon offers calm, warm waters and a steady breeze – ideal for learning the basics. With guidance from our experienced instructors, you’ll build confidence step by step, from balance and board control to your first turns.

It’s a relaxed, supportive setting that makes learning both easy and enjoyable.

Kayaking and paddle boarding

Paddle sports are the headline act here. The vast sheltered lagoon and lazy river are practically made for kayaking and paddle boarding – in fact, Neilson would happily call it the best in the Beach Club bunch.

Inside the reef, the water stays calm and glassy, while the marine life is lively enough to spot from above – which is why Neilson have got glass-bottom kayaks ready to go.

They’ll be running paddle tours, kayak safaris and intro classes for first timers. Whether you’re gliding, drifting, paddling or wobbling back to the sun lounger, this lagoon and river are pure Good Energy on water.

Fitness and yoga

If your holiday happy place leans towards yoga or Pilates, this is about as dreamy as it gets.

From sunrise to sunset, mind, body and soul get the full island treatment – whether you’re listening to waves on the shore, feeling the breeze through the palms, or easing into shavasana with soft sand beneath you. From shaded mats to balance sessions on the water, there are endless corners of the resort to find your calm.

Prefer to turn things up a notch? The resort delivers, with a fitness circuit through the gardens, a fully equipped gym, and indoor-outdoor training zones for strength and conditioning, HIIT and Zumba.

Sound bath

Looking to fully switch off? A soothing sound bath could be just the thing.

Lie back, settle in and close your eyes as gongs, chimes and singing bowls ripple through the warm island air. No equipment, no experience – just 30–60 minutes of uninterrupted you-time.

Perfect for busy minds, tired bodies, and anyone who needs a gentle reset after active days in the sun.

Racket sports – tennis and pickleball

Framed by tranquil gardens and swaying palms, the racket sports area has its own island swagger.

Tennis and pickleball are big hitters here, with two tennis courts and four pickleball courts. Whether you’re new to tennis or a seasoned holiday hotshot, the Neilson team will tailor sessions to bring out your inner Alcaraz or Raducanu.

Expect the classic Neilson programme for beginners through to club players: social games, superdrills, booze & balls, tournaments, and the ever-popular staff-vs-guests challenge match.

Equipment is sorted too, with quality Wilson rackets for adults and kids ready to go.

Ebikes

Cycling here is all about soaking up the island vibe – no rush, no pressure, just warm air, ocean views and easy-going exploration.

Our fleet of e-bikes makes it effortless to cruise the coast, discover hidden coves or roll into colourful towns beyond the resort. Join a relaxed guided ride with our local team, or head out at your own pace.

With quiet coastal roads, lush scenery and plenty of photo-worthy pit stops, this is the kind of ride where the journey really is the destination.

Beach volleyball

Set on soft, powdery sand, the beach here is made for play – and beach volleyball is the main event.

Expect big laughs, flying dives, and the sudden realisation it’s much harder than it looks – but far more fun too. It’s fast, light-hearted and just competitive enough to earn that well-deserved post-match cocktail.

With unbeatable ocean views – and apparently unbeatable staff teams – the only thing left to do is take them on.

During school holidays, childcare is included for ages 2–13, along with extra activities for teens. Outside school holidays, kids’ clubs run for ages 2–5 years only, while those 13+ can join the standard activity programme. Children aged 4–23 months can join the creche at an additional cost.

Kids’ club opening times:

• 4 days a week: 9.30 am – 5.30 pm
• 2 days a week: 2.30 pm – 11 pm

Starfish crèche (4-23 months)

They’ll love beach picnics, building sandcastles, playing on bikes and trikes, hand and feet painting, and playing in the pool. We have 1 nanny for every 2 babies.

Sea Otters (2-5 years)

Sea Otters is Neilson’s new club for ages 2–5 at Cosmos Beach Club, Neilson x The Ravenala Attitude and Neilson x Mangia’s Torre del Barone Resort. Expect beach play, crafts, games and face painting, plus kayaking and sailing – all with plenty of smiles along the way. There’s a ratio of 1:4.

• Club hours – 4 days a week from 9.30am – 12.30pm & 2.30pm – 5.30pm, 2 days a week from 2.30pm – 5.30pm & 7pm -11pm
• Meals – all meals are taken with a parent or guardian

Mini Rippers (6-10 years)

Mini Rippers is available at our Cosmos Beach Club, Neilson x The Ravenala Attitude and Neilson x Mangia’s Torre del Barone Resort. There will be fun on the beach and on the water, kayaking, paddle boarding and dinghy sailing plus time to splash in the pool and enjoy outdoor games.

• Club hours – 4 days a week from 9.30am – 12.30pm & 2.30pm – 5.30pm, 2 days a week from 2.30pm – 5.30pm & 7pm – 11pm
• Meals – all meals are taken with a parent or guardian.

Surf Squad (12 &13 years/11-13 years)*

In the sea or on the beach, they’ll be mixing it up with new friends before enjoying social nights. There’s a ratio of 1:12.

• Club hours – 4 days a week from 9.30 am-12.30 pm & 2.30 pm-5.30 pm, 2 days a week from 2.30 pm-11 pm
• Meals – meals are taken with parent or guardian, except on social evenings.
• Evenings – 4 teen social nights per week until 10 pm – including pizza, movies and BBQ.

Every room is a suite – spacious, stylish, and designed for barefoot luxury. Inspired by the island, interiors mix natural materials, earthy tones, and vibrant accents. Local area

Mauritius is wonderfully easy to explore. Roughly the size of Greater London, it’s simple to venture beyond the resort and see more of the island. You’re just minutes from the capital, Port Louis, while the lively bars, boutiques and nightlife of Grand Baie are a little further along the coast.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden

Located in Pamplemousses, named after a local citrus plant, this tropical treasure trove is one of the island’s most beautiful spots.

Wander among towering palms, spice trees and the famous giant water lilies that look almost made for fairies. Calm, colourful and wonderfully serene, it’s the perfect change of pace from beach life.

Port Louis

Mauritius’ capital turns island life up to eleven.

Head into the Central Market for a burst of colour, with spices, tropical fruit, street food and lively local bargaining. Then stroll to the Caudan Waterfront, where colonial architecture meets stylish boutiques, cafés and marina views made for a long lunch.

You can visit the Blue Penny Museum, admire the street art or simply soak up the buzz of the island’s beating heart.

Grand Baie

The island’s lively coastal hotspot, Grand Baie is full of boutiques, bars, beach cafés and enough colour to fill an entire holiday album.
