Embark on an enriching journey that includes a guided tour of Petra, one of the ‘New Wonders of the World,’ an overnight stay in Wadi Rum with the ‘Seven Pillars’ rock formation, and a visit to the Dead Sea. Explore the well-preserved ancient Roman city of Jerash and biblical Mount Nebo, followed by a guided walking tour in the Old City of Jerusalem. Witness iconic sites like the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Dome of the Rock, and the Western Wall. Pay tribute at Yad Vashem, explore the Israel Museum, and delve into the history of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Fly to Amman and transfer to your hotel
Depart early and head south on the Desert Highway to Wadi Rum, known as the ‘Valley of the Moon.’ Wadi Rum’s vast expanse of monolithic rocks, canyons, and ravines is a truly stunning desert landscape. After transferring to 4×4 vehicles, explore this unique terrain and eventually reach the Wadi Rum Space Village, a Bedouin-style camp. In the evening, enjoy a traditional ‘zarb’ dinner, a delicious barbecue cooked beneath the hot desert sand.
Visit the gathering place of immense caravans, some comprising over a thousand camels. Then explore the enigmatic rock-carved chambers of ancient ‘hotels’ in the vicinity, which is famously referred to as Little Petra.
Petra, acclaimed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, rivals the Taj Mahal and the Pyramids as a must-see attraction. Its historical significance stems from its role as a wealthy center along ancient caravan routes, trading as far as China and competing with Rome. The city boasts sophisticated public structures, libraries, luxurious homes, colonnaded streets, and rock-carved villas. As you venture through a narrowing gorge, the Treasury emerges like a mesmerizing mirage, showcasing its remarkable proportions and grandeur.
Beyond the Treasury, an entire city unfolds, including the Royal Tombs, the theatre, the Street of the Facades, the Great Temple, early Christian churches, and the main colonnaded road. The afternoon offers leisure time for you to explore further or relax at your hotel.
Travel north on the King’s Highway, an ancient caravan route, through Jordan’s stunning arid landscapes. Visit the well-preserved Crusader castle at Shobak and continue to Mount Nebo, where Moses first glimpsed the Promised Land, believed to be his final resting place. Nearby, in Madaba, St George’s Church displays an intricate 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land.]
Jerash, often called the Pompeii of the East, is the largest and exceptionally preserved Roman city in the region. It showcases beautifully colonnaded streets, a forum, a hippodrome, baths, and a theater, exemplifying grand Roman town planning.
Later, head back to the hotel for leisure time, where you can enjoy the facilities or take a refreshing dip in the Dead Sea.
Journey from the Dead Sea to the renowned Allenby Bridge (King Hussein) crossing, complete border formalities, and then visit the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane. Following lunch, explore the Israel Museum.
In the morning, tour Yad Vashem, the world’s largest Holocaust memorial. Afterward, explore the compact Old City of Jerusalem, which houses some of the most sacred sites for over half of the world’s population. Highlights include the Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, the holiest site in Judaism, and the Dome of the Rock above it. Your walk along the Via Dolorosa leads us to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built over Golgotha, the crucifixion and resurrection site of Jesus.
Enjoy a full day at leisure for a personal exploration of the Old City and its surroundings.
