The city is surrounded by impressive 19-mile-long ramparts with well-preserved forts at intervals. These classic Moorish gates change colours with the light throughout the day. Begin the day with a comfortable drive to Essaouira, a 15th-century coastal town with a well-preserved medieval citadel, charming streets, and bustling markets.
