Day 2: Oslo
Following breakfast, you’ve got the whole day to explore the city. There’s plenty to do, with several museums located on the Bygdøy peninsula including the Folkemuseet and Viking ship museum as well as numerous restaurants, cafes and open spaces downtown.

Day 3: Flight to the North
This morning, take the train to the airport and board a flight to Kirkenes. Transfer to your hotel before having the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 4: Boarding the Coastal Express
This morning is at leisure before making your way to the ship for the midday departure. Spend the rest of the day settling into your cabin and exploring the ship’s facilities as it sails south past Vardø, Båtsford and Berlevåg.

Day 5: The Top of Norway
Early this morning, the ship visits Honningsvåg and Havøysund before stopping in Hammerfest. Here you can choose to see the Meridian Column, visit the Polar Bear Society or head to the viewpoint on Mount Salen. From here, the ship continues to Tromsø, where you’ll arrive just before midnight. During summer, the midnight sun means you stroll round the still busy city, despite the late hours.

Day 6: Idyllic Islands
Spend the day exploring Lofoten and Vesterålen. The first stop is Harstad, where you’ll find Trondenes Church, the world’s northern medieval stone church. Another main stop today is in Stokmarknes where Richard With started The Coastal Express in 1893. From here, the ship sails along Raftsund where the captain may take the ship into the tiny but awe-inspiring Trollfjord. In the evening, stop in Svolvær before continuing to Stamsund, passing the giant Lofoten Wall.

Day 7: A Landscape of Trolls
Cross the Arctic Circle this morning, continuing to Sandnessjøen, the gateway to the Helgeland Coast. As you travel further south, enjoy brilliant views of the Seven Sisters mountain range and keep an eye out for Torghatten Mountain. Reach Brønnøysund in the afternoon where you explore the marina before the ship sails to Rørvik

Day 8: Trondheim & Kristiansund
Spend the morning in Trondheim, perhaps visiting the Nidaros Cathedral or taking a stroll up to Kristiansten Fort to take in the views. The ship then continues south to Kristiansund, a city spread over three islands. While here, you can take the opportunity to try klippfisk, a salted cod dried on the nearby cliffs. Or simply spend some time walking around the old town and port. Finally, sail to Molde from where you can spot the tops of the Romsdal Alps

Day 9: Across the fjords to Bergen
This morning, you may get the chance to see Nordfjord before the ship docks in Florø before crossing the mouth of Sognefjord, the widest in Norway. Finally, you’ll navigate the islands of Hjeltefjord to reach Bergen. Disembark the ship and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the city.

Day 10: Norway in a Nutshell begins
After breakfast, head to the railway station to take a scenic train ride to Voss. From here, you’ll head to the tiny village of Gudvangen, home of an authentic Viking village, Njardarheim. Board an electric boat to take a cruise through the beautiful Nærøyfjord. Dock in Flåm where you’ll visit the Railway Museum before a trip to a local brewery. Spend the night in Flåm.

Day 11: Flåm Railway
Experience two scenic train journeys today. The first is aboard the Flåm railway, bringing you to the mountain station of Myrdal. Here you’ll board the Bergen Railway, often described as one of the most picturesque train journeys in the world. You’ll pass forests, fjords and majestic mountains, finally arriving in Oslo this afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 12: Goodbye Norway
The trip comes to an end after breakfast.
