Embark on an exhilarating adventure with Hurtigruten’s coastal round-trip voyage, complemented by an immersive land, rail, and sea tour through the breathtaking mountain and fjord landscapes between Oslo and Bergen. Plus, choose between a summer or winter voyage to go searching for the Northern Lights or experience the magical Midnight Sun.
Day 1: Arrive in Oslo
Fly to Oslo. On arrival, the rest of the day is free to explore independently.
Day 2: Oslo – Myrdal – Flåm
After breakfast, make you way to the railway station to board the train to Myrdal, a journey that will take you past snow-covered forests and glacial peaks. Once in Myrdal, you’ll board the famous Flåm railway, which descends 900m through the mountains to the town of Flåm.
Day 3: Flåm – Gudvangen – Voss
This morning, board the ferry to Gudvangen, which takes you through the Nærøyfjord, known for its spectacular views of the mountains, rivers, and waterfalls. Arriving in Voss, the rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 4: Voss – Bergen
You’ve some free time this morning to explore Voss before boarding the train that will bring you to Bergen. Enjoy an afternoon free for exploring, perhaps visiting the colourful Bryggen district near the waterfront or heading to the top of the Fløibanen funicular for brilliant views of the city.
Day 5: All aboard in Bergen
After some more free time to explore the city, join your cruise ship at port before departing and sailing north along the Viking route of Hjeltefjord. On board, enjoy a dinner made from fresh coastal produce before settling in for a relaxing evening.
Day 6: Ålesund
Enjoy the early morning views of the Nordfjord before sailing west to the city of Ålesund. While here, you’ll visit the famous Altanterhavsparken aquarium, which includes a trip to see the resident penguins. You then continue to Mount Aksla to take to in the amazing views. Leaving the city behind, the ship sails to Molde, home to beautiful gardens and a view of 222 mountain peaks.
Day 7: Trondheim
Spend today in the historical city of Trondheim. Explore independently or join one of the optional excursions, including a visit to Nidaros Cathedral, burial place of St Olav or a tour on the world’s northernmost tram line. In the afternoon, the ship sails past the Kjeungskjær lighthouse to reach the channel of Stokksund and Rørvik.
Day 8: Bodø & the Arctic Circle
Head into the Arctic Circle, enjoying a fun ceremony on deck to mark the occasion. Sail to Ørnes, then onto Bodø where you can see the world’s most powerful maelstrom during an optional excursion. In the afternoon, pass the immense Lofoten Wall and dock in Stamsund, where you can visit the Lofotr Viking Museum. Then sail through Raftsund and stop at the entrance to Trollfjord.
Day 9: Tromsø
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Tromsø, the Arctic exploration capital. Here you can join an optional ‘Polar History Walk’ to learn more about the history of Arctic explorers and hunters. There is selection of seasonal excursions you may wish to take part in.
Day 10: Experience the North Cape
Visit the world’s northernmost fishing villages this morning, before sailing to Honningsvåg. From here, you can join an excursion to the North Cape, one of Europe’s northernmost points. The ship then continues to Kjøllerfjord, where you can about the Sámi, and their way of life.
Day 11: Kirkenes
Today, you’ll arrive in the town of Kirkenes, near the border with Russia. Enjoy some time ashore to take part in optional excursions before reboarding the ship for its return journey down the coast.
Day 12: Hammerfest
Docking in Menhamn around midnight, you may be able to join a snowmobile trip to spot the northern lights. The ship continues south in the morning, arriving in Hammerfest. Here you can see the Meridian Column and join a mini-mountain expedition. Leaving Hammerfest just after lunch, the ship takes you to the trading post of Skjervøy before travelling to Tromsø. Arriving just after midnight, you may wish to enjoy a midnight concert at the city’s Arctic Cathedral.
Day 13: Lofoten
After an early morning stop at Harstad, where you can join the ‘A Taste of Vesterålen’ excursion, you can look forward to a few hours of sailing through the picturesque Lofoten and Vesterålen islands. Making a short stop at Risøyhamn, you’ll then continue to Stokmarknes, where Hurtigruten was founded. Sail back through Raftsund and, conditions permitting, venture into Trollfjord. Travel onto Svolvær where you can join several excursions
Day 14: Brønnøysund
Cross back over the Arctic Circle, and sail past the famous Torghatten Mountain and the beautiful Seven Sisters Mountain range. Arrive in the little town of Brønnøysund and enjoy some free time to explore or join an excursion
Day 15: Trondheim
Return to Trondheim today to further explore the city. Then, call at Kristiansund, know for its export of dried fish. From here, you may wish to join a visit to the Bergtatt marble mine. Those choosing to stay on the ship will sail across the open sea to Molde.
Day 16: Back in Bergen
Sail beneath the Jostedal Glacier today, calling at Florø. Then, continue past the mighty Sognefjord to reach Bergen where your cruise comes to an end.
This cruise is available as either a Northern Lights Cruise (sailing September to March) or a Midnight Sun Cruise (sailing May to September).
