Day 1: All aboard in Bergen
Begin your voyage today in Bergen. If you have time after your flight arrives into Norway, you can spend some time exploring the city’s historic landmarks before embarking the ship. Once onboard and settled into your cabin, enjoy dinner prepared with fresh coastal produce. As the ship leaves Bergen and sails along Hjeltefjord, you’ll get the chance to meet the ship’s Coastal Experience Team.
Bergen: 14:45 – 20:30
Day 2: Ålesund and the Fjords
Awaken this morning to the sight of the Nordfjord before sailing past West Cape to reach the city of Ålesund. The city is renowned for its beautiful architecture and its large aquarium, which you can explore today*. Later, set a course for Geirangerfjord, home to towering cliffs and the famous Seven Sisters waterfall**. The last port of the day is Molde.
*Time spend at port in Alesund is dependent on season, with longer time in port during spring and winter
**On selected sailings, the ship to sail to Hjørundfjord and call at Urke instead.
Ålesund: November to March: 09:45 – 20:00; April to May: 09:45-10:00 & 18:00-20:00; June to August: 09:45-10:00 & 19:00-20:00
Day 3: Trondheimø
Sail into the medieval city of Trondheim, where you’ll have three hours to explore, either at your own pace or on one of the optional excursions. Back on board in the afternoon, the ship sails north towards Rørvik
Trondheim: 09:45 – 12:45
Day 4: Into the Arctic
Early today, the ship crosses over the Arctic Circle, a moment marked by a traditional ceremony. In the morning, arrive at Ørnes, before sailing to Bodø, the second largest city in Northern Norway. There’s some time to wander the city or join an excursion, including one to Saltstraumen, the world’s most powerful maelstrom. In the afternoon, continue sailing into the Lofoten archipelago.
Bodø: 13:05 – 15:20; Svolær: 21:20 – 22:15
Day 5: Tromsø
Start the morning in Harstad, where there is time for a short morning stroll before the ship sails to Finnsnes. From here, continue to Tromsø where you’ll have four hours to explore independently or joining an excursion. Leaving in the evening, head north, passing the Lyngen Alps
Harstad: 07:10 – 07:45; 14:15 – 16:45
Day 6: Honningsvåg
Those awake early may the chance to spot the landmark Havøyglaven wind farm near Havøysund as the ship sails to Honningsvåg. Arriving there in mid-morning, you can enjoy a number of optional excursions. Back on board, the ship sails further north to Mehamn, and then to Berlevåg. On the way, you’ll pass the Slettnes Lighthouse, the northernmost mainland lighthouse on Earth.
Hammerfest: 05:05 – 05:45; Honningsvåg: 10:55 – 14:30
Day 7: Kirkenes
After breakfast, the ship arrives in the town of Kirkenes, the turning point of the voyage. Enjoy some time to explore the area and take part in optional excursions. Heading back southward, stop in Vardø where you can visit the Witches’ Monument and the Vardøhus Fortress.
Kirkenes: 09:00 – 12:30; Vardø: 16:05 – 17:00
Day 8: Hammerfest
Spend the morning sailing before arriving in Hammerfest. See the Meridian column, visit the Polar Bear society or climb the path to view point at the top of Mount Salen. After you visit, make your way back down the coast to Tromsø where you arrive just before midnight. In the summer months, you can stroll around the city in the 24-hour daylight.
Hammerfest: 11:00 – 12:45; Tromsø: 23:45 – 01:30
Day 9: Svolvær
Explore the archipelagos of Lofoten and Vesteralen today. You’ll stop in Stokmarknes where Captain Richard With began the Coastal Express back in 1893. Visit the Hurtigrutemuseet, a building that chronicles Hurtigruten’s legacy. Leaving Stokmarknes, sail along Raftsund where you may have the opportunity to enter Trollfjord (weather permitting). Reach Svolvær in the evening with a couple of hours ashore before sailing towards Stamsund.
Stokmarknes: 14:15 – 15:15; Svolvær: 18:30 – 20:30
Day 10: Brønnøysund
Sail back over the Arctic Circle this morning and head to Sandnessjøen, the gateway to the Helgeland Coast. After some time to admire the stunning landscape continue onto Brønnøysund. Explore the marina before reboarding the ship.
Sandnessjøen: 11:45 – 12:15; Brønnøysund: 15:00 – 17:25
Day 11: Trondheim
The morning is spent in Trondheim before sailing south to Kristiansund, a town known for its salted cod. Spend some time walking through the old town before you sail to Molde.
Trondheim: 06:30 – 09:30; Kristiansund: 16:30 – 17:30; Molde: 21:15 – 21: 45
Day 12: Bergen
Arrive back in Bergen in the mid afternoon and disembark the ship

The Coastal Express – To the Viking Capital
This 11-day voyage is identical to the Coastal Express until day 11 when, instead of sailing to Bergen, the voyage ends in Trondheim.
