Embark on a historic voyage from 1968, revived for the modern traveller. Journey in comfort aboard the stunning MS Trollfjord, sailing along the picturesque Norwegian coast to Spitsbergen, the largest of Svalbard’s islands.
Day 1: Bergen
Make your own way to Bergen where, depending on your time of arrival, you can explore the historic Bryggen district before heading to the Hurtigruten guest lounger. Here you can relax before boarding and even secure any last-minute excursions. Once onboard, meet the Coastal Experience Team before settling in for dinner
Day 2: Åndalsnes
Sail to the coastal town of Åndalsnes. Here you’re free to explore, perhaps joining an excursion to hike to the Rampestreken viewpoint or take a ride on the Romsdal Gondola.
Day 3: Træna
Head to the archipelago of Træna today, a collection of 500 islands near the Arctic Circle. Spend the afternoon in one of Norway’s oldest fishing communities, where you can take part in a number of optional activities including hiking, birdwatching or even fishing. Leaving in the evening, sail across the Arctic Circle, celebrating the moment with a Norwegian ceremony.
Day 4: The Tip of Lotofen
Today you’ll reach the famous Lofoten Island, home to some of the most photographed landscapes in all of Norway. The ship docks in Reine, an important fishing village. From here, you can visit Å, a well-preserved traditional fishing village. While here, you may wish to explore the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum.
Day 5: Tromsø
Dock in the city of Tromsø this morning, giving you a whole day to explore. This city has long been the start point of Arctic expeditions and you can learn more about the history during a city walk or bus tour. Alternative, you can ride the Fjellheisen Cable Car up Storsteinen Mountain for brilliant views of the surrounding mountains and fjords.
Day 6: Honningsvåg
Arrive mid-morning in Honningsvåg, the northernmost city in mainland Norway. Join an optional excursion to the North Cape, the continent’s northernmost point. Alternative, you can take a hike with the Coastal Experience Team. In the evening, the ship sails away from the mainland into the Barents Sea.
Day 7: To Svalbard
Spend the morning sailing north before being greeted by the sight of Bjørnøya, Svalbard’s southernmost island. As the ship continues north, you might get the chance to spot the abundant birdlife that nests on the cliffs.
Day 8: Longyearbyen
Today, the ship arrives at Spitsbergen, the largest of Svalbard’s three main islands. In the afternoon, the ship docks in Longyearbyen, the largest settlement. Spend some time wandering around the town or join an optional excursion to explore the landscape around the town by e-bike or boat. You could also have a wilderness experience at Camp Barentz.
Day 9: Ny-Ålesund
Travel to the settlement of Ny-Ålesund today, a town that in the summer months plays host to hundreds of researchers from across the globe. There’s some free time to explore or visit the local museum before departing. Heading back towards Longyearbyen, enjoy impressive views of Kongsfjord. This stretch of the voyage is a great place to keep an out for walruses and migrating birds. If you’re lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of a white beluga or polar bear
Day 10: Leaving Svalbard
Say goodbye to Svalbard today and sail south towards the mainland. Onboard, there’s plenty of opportunity to relax or joining the Coastal Experience Team for an insightful lecture.
Day 11: Senja
After a day at sea, dock into Tromsø briefly to drop off any cargo from Svalbard. The ship then sails to Senja, one of Norway’s largest islands. Here you’ll find diverse landscapes, from sandy beaches to the north and pine forests in the south’s National Park. Disembark in the village of Torsken. From here, explore the island on excursion.
Day 12: Lofoten
Begin the day in Stokmarknes, the birthplace of Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express. After some time in the town, sail via Raftsundet and Trollfjord to Lofoten. Spend the rest of the day exploring the archipelago, from the town of Svolvær where the ship is docked.
Day 13: Brønnøysund
This morning you’ll reach the Helgeland Coast, a stretch of the coast known for its distinctive mountains. The ship will dock in Brønnøysund where you can join an excursion or explore the town. The ship continues south later in the day, passing the Torghatten Mountain.
Day 14: Ålesund & the Hjørundfjord
Make a brief stop in Ålesund this morning. Here you can join an overland excursion to Hjørundfjord and Sæbo. Otherwise, explore the town on foot before the ship sails to Hjørundfjord which cuts through the Sunnmøre Alps. Stop at the idyllic village of Sæbo. Enjoy a farewell dinner onboard tonight.
Day 15: Bergen
Arrive back at Bergen this morning where you’ll disembark the ship.

For 2026 departures, this itinerary will be 16 days long, with an extra day at the start on which you fly to Bergen and stay overnight before boarding the cruise on Day 2.
