Embark on an extraordinary Arctic adventure to Svalbard’s dramatic peaks, vast glaciers, and serene fjords. Begin in Oslo before traveling to Longyearbyen, the gateway to the High Arctic. Aboard the MS Fram, navigate breathtaking fjords like Hornsund and Bellsund, explore the untouched wilderness of Northwest Spitsbergen, and, weather permitting, reach the ice edge at the 80th parallel. Along the way, spot reindeer, seals, and perhaps even a polar bear in its natural habitat.
*Please note the order of activities while on the expedition cruise is dependent on the ever-changing weather, sea and local conditions. The knowledgeable Expedition Team will decide the best possible itinerary on the day.
Day 1: Arrival in Oslo
Fly to Oslo and transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay
Day 2: Oslo & Longyearbyen
This morning, take a city tour of Oslo (dependent on flight time). With a guide, you’ll see the modern Opera House, the Karl Johans Gate and visit the royal residences. There may also be a short stop at the Holmenkollen Ski Jump. In the afternoon, fly to Longyearbyen on Svalbard.
Day 3: Longyearbyen & Embarkation
After breakfast, there will be free time to explore the town. Following lunch back at the hotel, visit the Svalbard Museum followed by a drive to Camp Barentz, where you’ll meet some huskies and enjoy a drink and snack during a presentation on local life (Excursion in Longyearbyen is subject to change). You’ll then return to Longyearbyen to board MS Fram
Day 4: Hornsund
Today’s journey takes you towards Hornsund, one of Svalbard’s beautiful fjords. As you sail closer, you may get the chance to spot Arctic foxes and reindeer.

Over the next two days, explore the rugged beauty of Northwest Spitsbergen National Park. Sail through Magdalenefjorden’s tranquil waters, past towering cliffs and glistening glaciers, and navigate Sørgattet into pristine Smeerenburgfjord. As the midnight sun bathes the landscape, immerse yourself in stunning vistas and diverse wildlife. Keep watch for seals on ice floes, walruses on rocky shores, and reindeer roaming the tundra, offering unforgettable glimpses of Arctic life.
Day 8: Ice Edge Attempt
Depending on the conditions, you may get the chance to cross the 80th parallel, where the sea is filled with drifting pace ice. You may also get the chance to attempt to visit the ice edge where the ice cap meets the open ocean. It’s not a fixed location, so visiting is not guaranteed.
