Fly overnight to Nairobi.
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport transfer to the Somak Safari Lounge where you can freshen up and store luggage before departing for Amboseli National Park with a packed lunch. Your destination is the locally rated 4-star Oltukai Lodge, a pretty and intimate lodge where you will stay for two nights
Today look forward to an early morning and afternoon safari drive in Amboseli National Park. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, the parks unique ecosystem of dry lake beds and swamps supports an enviable collection of animals, including over 400 species of birds, Cape buffalo, impala, East African lion, cheetah, spotted hyena and Masai giraffes.
After breakfast drive south to the Tanzanian border, meet your Tanzanian driver and guide and proceed to Arusha, where you lunch at a local restaurant. This dusty East African city, at the base of Mount Meru, is the gateway to the Serengeti and launchpad for climbing expeditions of Kilimanjaro.
After breakfast set off for the Serengeti Game Reserve with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife on the way. You’ll be staying in the locally rated 4-star Serengeti Sopa Lodge, where traditional African decor adds to the flavour of your experience.
Set off on a game drive before breakfast to catch a glimpse of the park at its most active, with big cats on the prowl for a kill. Return to the camp for a hearty breakfast and lunch before a late afternoon game drive.
Today drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping briefly at Olduvai Gorge and Museum. Established in 1970 by Mary Leakey, the museum exhibits paleoanthropological artefacts from Olduvai Gorge, including skeletons and casts of footprint trails of an 3.9 to 2.9 million-year-old ancestor of modern man.
After breakfast, drive to the Crater Floor, for a full-morning game drive followed by a picnic lunch. This volcanic caldera, with its glistening lake and low bush, shelters a unique ecosystem rich in wildlife, that has been protected from hunting since 1928.
On your return drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport stop in the Arusha Coffee Lodge for lunch and gather your reflections of the sights and sounds of Africa. Take your overnight flight to the UK.
Arrive in the UK and travel home.
