African tribal designs have inspired the creation of Amakhala Safari Lodge, one of seven lodges situated in the Amakhala Game Reserve, adjacent to Shamwari. The lodge is owned and managed by the same families who farmed the area with sheep and cattle five generations ago. Here you can relax in your intimate thatched safari hut, soak in a luxurious double bath, or cool off in an outdoor shower before gathering around the fireside under the stars. You can take game drives in an open Land Rover in search of rhino, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra, tortoise and over 16 antelope species. Alternatively, take a night drive to seek out elusive nocturnal animals such as lynx, porcupine and spring hare.
