Days 1-2: Fly overnight to Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing. On arrival, the rest of day 2 is free for you to relax or begin exploring.

Day 3: Imperial Beijing
Head to Tiananmen Square this morning where you’ll see the magnificent of the Forbidden City. Then, take a leisurely stroll through the historic hutongs, visiting a family living here to learn about daily life. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven before enjoying a local Peking Duck dinner in the evening

Day 4: The Great Wall
This morning, travel to one of the world’s most iconic landmarks, the Great Wall of China. Take a walk along a section of the wall before visiting a jade factory where you have the chance to buy a handcrafted piece. Spend the afternoon strolling amongst the gardens at the Summer Palace.

Day 5: Dine on Dumplings
Travel by bullet train to Xian. Take a walking tour of the Muslim Quarter and learn about the city’s significance as the start of the Silk Road. In the evening, feast on delicious Shui Jiao dumplings and watch a Tang Dynasty performance.

Day 6: Terracotta Warriors
Discover another of China’s ancient wonders this morning as you visit the Terracotta Warriors of China’s first emperors. As well as seeing viewing these fascinating statues, you’ll visit the Zian Art Ceramic and Lacquer Workshop. Later in the day, take a walk on the walls of Xian’s old town.

Day 7: Bullet Train to Chengdu
Board the bullet train to Chengdu. On arrival, walk through People’s Park to see Matchmaker’s Corner.

Day 8: Giant Pandas
Visit Chengdu’s Panda Conservation Centre to learn about these bears. Later, drive to Chongqing where you’ll board the boat for your Yangtze River Cruise.

Day 9: Yangtze River Cruise
Heading ashore today, travel to Mt. Shuanggui where you’ll explore a national park known for its picturesque scenery. You’ll also get to see the cliff brush writings of calligraphists dating from the Song Dynasty to the present.

Day 10: Yangtze River Cruise
Relax as you sail through the Wu and Qutang gorges before heading down the Goddess Stream in a smaller vessel.

Day 11: Three Gorges Dam
Visi the Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydroelectric dam in the world. Look at the dam from the viewing area and visit the museum before disembarking the ship. Then, travel to Zhangjiajie.

Day 12: Discover Zhangjiajie
Begin your day with a ride on the Bailong glass elevator, embedded into the mountain and taking you up to 326 metres. Take some time to soak in the views of the ‘First Bridge under the Sun’ and Hallelujah Mountain before continuing to Emperor Mountain and Helong Park. From here, take a cable car down. Later on, explore the Ten-Mile Natural Gallery on a scenic train ride and end the day with a sampan cruise on Lake Baofeng.

Day 13: Zhangjiajie’s Glass Bridge
Explore the Huanglong Cave before braving the walk across Zhangjiajie’s 430-metre-long Glass Bridge, the world’s longest and highest glass bottom bridge.

Day 14: Tianmen Mountain
Ride the world’s longest cable to the heights of Tianmen Mountain. Atop the mountain, ,marvel  at Tianmen Cave, nicknamed ‘Heaven’s Door’, which stands at the top of 999 steps and walk along a glass walkway called the ‘Walk of Faith’. Stop at Jun Sheng Sandstone painting gallery before travelling to the airport for a flight to Shanghai.

Day 15: Bustling Shanghai
Visit the peaceful Yu Gardens and the old town. Take walk along the historical waterfront before visiting the Silk Factory. In the evening, take a cruise on the Huangpu Rivier, enjoying Shanghainese cuisine and wonderful views of the city.

Day 16: Depart Shanghai
Fly back to the UK, arriving the same or following day
