Venture on an extraordinary journey from the enchanting island of Penang to the bustling metropolis of Kuala Lumpur and the captivating landscapes of Borneo. This adventure seamlessly weaves through vibrant cities, colonial towns, and breathtaking natural scenery.
Starting in the historic George Town, where glimpses of 18th-century colonial life await, your journey unfolds through the scenic Malaysian countryside to Taiping Town and Ipoh. Kuala Lumpur, a dynamic blend of old and new, showcases historic street markets juxtaposed with towering skyscrapers. The tour concludes in Borneo, Malaysia’s verdant crown jewel, offering encounters with orangutans and sun bears, as well as moments of relaxation on pristine beaches.
Day 1: Departure
Today, fly overnight to Penang via Kuala Lumpur
Day 2: Arrival in Penang
Upon arrival in the afternoon, transfer to your hotel on Batu Ferringhi beach before enjoying the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 3: George Town
This morning, head out on a walking tour of George Town, where you’ll get a glimpse of 18th century colonial life. Following this, you’ll visit Cheong Fatt Tze Blue Mansion House, a famed landmark in George Town, built by a Chinese Tycoon at the end of the 1800s. Take a cycle rickshaw ride through the streets before enjoying an included lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to enjoy the facilities at the hotel or to carry on exploring independently.
Day 4: Penang Hill
Today, board the Penang Hill Funicular Railway for a trip to the top of Penang Hill. Here you’ll find a collection of colonial buildings including bungalows, a post office and a police station. While here, you can discover the unique plants growing here and enjoy unobstructed views of George Town and both Penang Bridges. After lunch at the top of Strawberry Hill, the rest of the afternoon is free.
Day 5: Penang to Ipoh
Leave George Town today, crossing over the Penang Bridge to Butterworth, located on the mainland. From here, take a scenic drive to Taiping Town. On arrival, take a tour of the town, visiting a traditional charcoal factory and the Perak Museum. Before continuing on your journey, you may have the chance to stop off for coffee at the Aun Tong Coffee Mill, the oldest in Malaysia. Drive through the countryside to Ipoh.
Day 6: Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur
After breakfast, explore Ipoh and the Sam Poh Tong cave temple before travelling to Kuala Lumpur. Once here, you’ll have the afternoon at leisure. Alternatively, you can pre-book a optional tour of the Petronas Twin Tower Skybridge.
Day 7: Kuala Lumpur
In the morning, take a tour of the city. You’ll get the chance to see the Petronas Twin Towers, the King’s Palace and the grounds of the National Mosque. Afterwards, visit the memorial to those who died during WWII and the Malayan Emergency. Finally, pass the railway station, the cricket club and the Federal court. In the early afternoon, you can either enjoy some free time or head to the impressive Batu Caves, home to various temples.
Later in the day, visit the Kampung Baru district on a guided tour, browsing the Chow Kit Market, visiting a local home and seeing the Kampung Baru Mosque ad Tatt Khalsa Diwan Gurdwara Sikh Temple.
Day 8: Free day
Today is free for your to explore Kuala Lumpur independently.
Day 9: Sandakan
This morning, fly to Sandakan for a 2-night stay. On arrival, take a short orientation tour, stopping at the Sandakan Memorial, which commemorates allied soldiers held by the Japanese between 1942 and 1945.
Day 10: Orangutans, Sun Bears & House Museum
This morning takes you to two centres of conservation. First, visit the Bornean Sun Bear Centre, home to rescued sun bears. Next, visit the Sepilok Orangutan Centre, where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see these primates. After an included lunch, head to the Agnes Keith House, a museum dedicated to the American writer who lived in Borneo before, during and after World War II.
Day 11: Fly to Kota Kinabalu
This morning, catch a short flight to Kota Kinabalu. Head towards the hotel, stopping at the Mari-Mari Cultural Village on the way. Here you’ll learn about the history and traditions of five of the areas indigenous tribes. After checking into the hotel and enjoying an included lunch, the rest of the afternoon is at leisure.
Day 12: Free day
Today, the whole day is free to enjoy the extensive facilities on offer at the resort.
Day 13: Return home
After a relaxing morning, transfer to the airport for your overnight flight via Kuala Lumpur
Day 14: Arrive home
