Croatia is simply one of Europe’s ‘must see’ destinations, with a matchless blend of history, Mediterranean ambience and truly stunning natural beauty.
– See the stunning waterfalls at Krka National Park
– Enjoy a tasting of locally produced cheeses and wines on the picturesque Peljesac peninsula
– Marvel at Emperor Diocletian’s Palace
You should arrive at the airport to take your flight to Dubrovnik or Split from your selected airport. On arrival, you will be taken to one of the carefully chosen four-star hotels for three nights with breakfast and dinner, which will vary according to the date and flight you select.
After breakfast, take the drive inland to the Krka Valley where the River Krka flows through a series of gorges, lakes and rapids before meeting the sea. It is home to an eye-catching series of lakes where water cascades from one to the next in an extensive series of interlocking, dramatic waterfalls and cataracts. Witness one of the most dramatic stretches of the river on a walk and boat trip.
Today we drive along the stunning coastline before arriving at Split, principally famous for a single building, in fact one of the greatest structures of the Roman Empire – the huge palace of the Emperor Diocletian. Take a guided walking tour before heading to Trogir, exploring its old town, which sits on an island.
Explore the Peljesac Peninsula, known for its beautiful scenery, vineyards and seafood. Arrive in Mali Ston where you’ll visit a traditional wine cellar. Sample a variety of local produce before having some free time to explore the town. Later, continue to Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik, an independent city-state for much of its history, has evolved differently to the rest of Croatia. The city threw off its Venetian masters in medieval times and founded a commercial empire trading with the eastern Mediterranean, France, Spain and later the Ottoman Empire. Take a morning tour with a local guide to discover its landmarks.
Today you have a free day, so what is it to be? Enjoy a coffee on the main square, watching the world go by, take a relaxing cruise around the picturesque harbour crammed with luxurious looking yachts, take a stroll around the city walls, soak up the sunshine, enjoy a leisurely lunch or perhaps simply catch up on some reading. The choice is yours.
This morning, drive south to the lush fields of Konavle. Visit on of the region’s faithfully restored windmills to learn how woollen cloth was produced here, before enjoying a welcome drink and a selection of local produce. Then, visit the picturesque town of Cavat on the coast, the perfect place to relax.
Today a coach will return us to the airport at the appropriate time for our flight home after a memorable tour.
