Day 1 – Cologne
Arrive in Cologne and board your 5-star cruise ship. Enjoy some time to settle in before dinner is served and the ship begins its overnight sailing to Andernach
Day 2 – Andernach & Koblenz
Enjoy a guided walk of the medieval town of Andernach, admiring its defensive walls, gates and castle. As you tuck to lunch, begin sailing to the city of Koblenz, which sits where the Rhine meets the Moselle. A tour with a local guide brings you to historic squares and beautiful buildings. Return to the ship for dinner.
Day 3 – Bernkastel
Spend a morning sailing past scenic views. After lunch, explore the town of Bernkastel before visiting a local wine cellar to learn more about the region’s production and to taste some samples. Return to the ship as it sails towards Trier.
Day 4 – Trier & Luxembourg
Drive from Trier to Luxembourg, which boasts fine castles and beautiful little towns. Arrive in the capital and discover the sights with a local guide before having some free time to explore. Head back to the ship for lunch before disembarking to discover Germany’s oldest city, Trier. Discover the city’s Roman heritage including the amphitheatre, baths, and bridge. In the evening, the ship set sail for Cochem.
Day 5 – Cochem
As the ship heads for Cochem, it passes through an impressive system of locks, so head to the deck to watch these in action. During lunch, the ship moors and the afternoon allows you time to explore this town.
Day 6 – Rhine Gorge & Rüdesheim
Cruise through the world-famous Rhine Gorge, watching as the ship sails past ancient castles and quaint villages. At lunchtime, arrive in Rüdesheim, famous for its wine-making. Board the Winzerexpress road train for a tour of the sights and the surrounding vineyards. Later on, there is an optional visit to Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum, a collection of antique instruments and musical boxes from across the globe.
Day 7 – Worms & Speyer
Wake this morning in the ancient town of Worms. Visit its famous cathedral, admiring its beautiful interior. After lunch sail to Mannheim. From here, there is an optional trip to Speyer, where you’ll have free time to explore the city. If you choose to stay in Mannheim, you can explore the city’s baroque palace and museums.
Day 8 – Heidelberg/Schwetzingen & Rhine Gorge
Today there is a choice of activities. The first is a visit to the city of Heidelberg, where a guided tour lets you discover its main attractions. Alternatively, you can visit Schwetzingen Palace to enjoy a tour of its grounds. Return to the ship for lunch before an afternoon of cruising towards Braubach, giving you another chance to marvel at the iconic Rhine Gorge.
Day 9 – Braubach
After breakfast, visit the magnificent Marksburg Castle, leaning about life here through the ages. Return to the ship for lunch as you sail towards Bonn. Tonight, enjoy a superb dinner hosted by the Captain.
Day 10 – Bonn & Cologne
In the morning, enjoy free time to explore Bonn, the former capital of West Germany. Wander the old town’s grand squares or visit the museum at the birthplace of Beethoven. Enjoy lunch onboard the ship before you sail to Cologne. Upon arrival, take a tour of the old city with an expert guide. After some free time, return to the ship for the final dinner of the trip.
Day 11 – Return home
Depart the ship after breakfast for your journey home.
