Day 1 – Arrival in Lucca
Arrive at the airport for your flight to Lucca, where you’ll transfer to your hotel

Day 2 – Lucca & Free afternoon
After breakfast, take a tour of the city with a local guide. Explore the historical centre including the Roman amphitheatre. This afternoon, you’re free to explore more of Lucca’s wonders independently.

Day 3 – Pisa & Free Afternoon
This morning drive to Pisa, for a guided tour. Visit the iconic Leaning Tower, as well as the other magnificent buildings in the adjoining piazza. Finish the tour with a visit to the Camposanto, a huge cemetery filled with sarcophagi and frescos. In the afternoon, return to Lucca for time at leisure before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4 – Porto Venere
Drive north past the gleaming marble mines of Carrara, used in masterpieces made since Roman Times. Spend the day exploring the coast of Liguria, arriving in the Gulf of Poets. Visit the village of Porto Venere, exploring medieval lanes that lead up to the church and castle.

Have lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to Genoa, where you stay for the remainder of the tour.

Day 5 – Genoa
Spend the morning on a guided tour of the city, exploring the heart of medieval Genoa, known for its late-Renaissance palaces. In the afternoon, there is free time to explore at your own pace.

Day 6 – Cinque Terre
The next two days are spent explore the surrounding coastline by boat. Today, a private charter brings you to the famous Cinque Terr. Visit a selection of these five village.

Day 7 – Portofino
Sail the short distance to Portofino this morning. Walk to the headland to enjoy brilliant views of the area. Return to Genoa in the afternoon for some more free time.

Day 8 – Return home
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Boat Travel
Visiting the Cinque Terre and Portofino by boat is subject to weather conditions. If safety concerns mean we can’t sail to the Cinque Terre on Day 6, we’ll travel by rail instead, visiting a selection of villages. If we’re unable to sail to Portofino on Day 7, we’ll travel there by the only other method of transport allowed – local bus.  When assessing the weather, the captain’s decision to sail or not is final, so please consider this when booking this tour.
