Malta might be one of the smallest nations in Europe, but its strategic position at the crossroads of the Mediterranean has allowed it to cultivate a rich culture over thousands of years. This centre-based tour goes beyond the seaside resorts for which the island is most famous, exploring instead the exciting history of the capital, Valletta; the three cities of Birgu, Senglea and Bormla; as well as the historic sites of the Hagar Qim temples and Marsaxlokk village. Highlights include driving your own electric buggy though the narrow streets, and a tuk-tuk tour of Gozo island.

Day 1: Fly to Malta
Take a morning flight to Malta. On arrival, transfer to the Waterfront Hotel (or similar) for the duration of the tour.

Day 2: Tour of Valletta
Take a guided tour of the capital city of Valletta. A UNESCO World Heritage Site full of marvelous sights and charming cafes. Highlights of the tour include St John’s Co-Cathedral and the palatial rooms of Casa Rocca Piccola. Finish your tour with lunch at Rampila Restaurannt.

Day 3: Day at lesiure
Spend a free day where you can enjoy the hotel’s facilities or explore independently

Day 4: Birgu
Explore Birgu, including a visit to Fort St Angelo, the ancient seat of the knights of Malta. Access private sections of the fort followed by an aperitif. Following this, enjoy a private harbour cruise on a traditional passenger boat.

Day 5: Gozo
Cross to Gozo, Malta’s second largest island, by ferry where you’ll explore the island by tuk-tuk. Visit the Ggantija temples and the Xwejni salt pans. Take a stop at Ta’ Rikardu Restaurant for lunch before returning to Malta in the afternoon.

Day 6: Hagar Qim, Blue Grotto and Mdina tour
Embark on a tour of the temple complex of Hagar Qim and the walled city of Mdina, During the day, you’ll take a boat ride to the Blue Grotto, a series of sea caves.

Transfer back to the airport for your flight to London
