You will visit Transylvania, Bucovina’s large monasteries and Saxon churches, as well as tour the haunting Bran Castle- home to Dracula himself! Wander around the castles and medieval towns and discover the true beauty of Romania- all in one week.
Day 1 – To Bucharest
Fly from London (regional connections available) to Bucharest. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner

Day 2 – Bucharest – Sibiu
Tour Bucharest, taking in its boulevards and belle époque buildings. Visit the Old Princely Court and the Royal Palace before travelling to Sibiu where you’ll stay for 2 nights.

Day 3 – Sibiu – Sibiel
In the morning, tour the old town, before enjoying some time at leisure. Perhaps take the opportunity to visit the Brukenthal Museum. In the evening, visit the village of Sibiel for dinner, including a cooking demonstration. Return to Sibiu

Day 4 – Sibiu – Biertan – Sighisoara
Transfer to Sighisoara via the Biertan Fortified Church, an fine example of late medieval architecture. Continue onto Sighisoara, staying at the Hotel Central Park (or similar) for 1 night.

Day 5 – Sighisoara – Targu Mures – Gara Humorului
Tour the UNESCO listed town of Sighisoara, a medieval settlement whose cobbled streets are lined with colourful houses. You’ll visit the citadel, the Church on the Hill and the clock tower. Travel north to Gura Humorului via Targu Mures, a Hungarian stronghold. Stay two nights at the La Cocnac Bucovina and enjoy a traditional dinner and dance show.

Day 6 – Gura Humorului
Tour the area’s painted monasteries, some of Europe’s greatest artistic monuments.

Day 7 – Agapia – Lacu Rosu – Brasov
Head south to Brasov, via the Agapia monastery, a Romanian Orthodox nunnery. Continue to Lac Rosu for lunch and then on to Brasov. The rest of the day is at leisure. Stay at the Hotel Aro Palace (or similar) for 2 nights.

Day 8 – Brasov – Bran Castle – Sinaia
Drive through the beautiful Transylvanian countryside to Bran Castle, famously associated with Dracula, where you’ll have a tour and a coffee stop. Then, drive to Sinaia to visit the palaces of Peles and Pelisor, the former royal residences of King Carol I. Return to Brasov.

Day 9 – Brasov – Bucharest
This morning, tour Brasov and view the Piata Sfatului, one of the finest baroque squares in Romania. Visit the Black Church to see its collection of Ottoman rugs and St Nicholas to see Romania’s first school. Return to Bucharest for a farewell drink.

Day 10 – Fly to London
Visit the Palace of Parliament before transferring to the airport for the flight back to London.

Hotel Aro Palace, Brasov

Located within a 2-minute walk of the medieval citadel, the Hotel Central Park has been converted from an 18th-century building, keeping its charming original features and facade. After a day’s sightseeing, dine at the hotel restaurant, which offers excellent Romanian wines and cuisine.
