Known as the salmon capital of the world, Ketchikan is a true frontier town, surrounded by towering mountains. Colourful houses on stilts from the gold rush era line the river bank.
Sitka has beautiful scenery with snow-capped mountains, small islands, rich wildlife all around, and even a volcano in sight.
Known for its artist community, Haines remains a small Alaskan town full of stories and hidden surprises.
The Tracy and Endicott Arm fjords feature lush greenery on towering cliffsides in spectacular deep valleys. Study the intricate shapes of icebergs in the water that have calved from the rugged, radiant blue glaciers at the end of the fjords as we sail this unforgettable area.
The capital of Alaska, Juneau has the aura of a gold rush town with old saloons, historic hotels, and remnants of gold mines in the mountains and valleys. Numerous hiking trails can take you from the vibrant busy streets into the wilderness within minutes – a contrast typical of the Alaskan frontier.
Icy Strait Point offers a glimpse into a life of native settlement. Houses are adorned with intricate carvings, totem poles display stories of the clans, and there are enjoyable cafes, shops, and museum displays.
Nicknamed `Little Norway´, rarely-visited Petersburg is a thriving fishing village with a strong Norwegian heritage, scenery that will take your breath away and an abundance of marine life all around.
One of the oldest island towns in Alaska, Wrangell has been governed by four different nations – Tlingit, Russia, Britain and the United States. Numerous petroglyphs on the beach and moss-covered totem poles are living reminders of the history of this area.
The largest wilderness area in Southeast Alaska, Misty Fjords National Monument is a realm of thick evergreen rainforests, granite cliffs adorned by dramatic waterfalls, mountain rivers and wetlands along the coast, and often milky fog filling the bays and coves.
Visit this sleepy provincial town with interesting stories, wilderness at its doorstep and the beauty of a coastal setting.
A day of exploration through the narrow channels of the Canadian Inside Passage. Prince Royal Island offers ghost towns, abandoned canneries, and waterfalls coming in view, and we will enjoy great wildlife spotting, from eagles overhead to seals lounging on rocky shores.
Alert Bay´s Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations community is based in this scenic village at the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Enjoy the elaborate totem poles, paintings, carvings and ceremonial masks in the local museum. We will search for wildlife in the nearby islands.
Our voyage ends with a return to cosmopolitan Vancouver. After disembarkation transfer to your hotel and overnight stay. Take your time to explore this colourful and welcoming city to get the most out of your journey.

In 2019, Hurtigruten will add a brand new ship to its fleet: the MS Roald Amundsen. The state of the art vessel features new and environmentally sustainable hybrid technology that will reduce fuel consumption and show the world that hybrid propulsion on large ships is possible.
Packed with state of the art technology and high tech gadgets such as touch screens and science equipment, the immersive edutainment area will be the place guests and staff/crew meet, mingle and create a deeper understanding for the areas they explore. The flexible venue will feature lecture spaces, a small library, and speciality areas for workshops in photography, biology, and more.
All cabins are outside, 50 % will have private balconies, aft suites will feature private outdoor Jacuzzis with spectacular views.
