Day 1-2: Fly to Saigon
Fly overnight to Saigon. On arrival you will be met by your expert tour guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 3: Discover Saigon
Seamlessly blending past and present, Saigon is both a treasure trove of cultural sights and the city that is driving Vietnam towards a bright future. Experience Vietnams colonial past at Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Also visit the Reunification Palace; and the chilling War Remnants Museum. Finish up browsing at the lively Ben Thanh Market.
Day 4: Mekong Delta Cruise
Journey to Ben Tre to take a cruise on the Mekong River. Paddle through the maze of palm-lined canals and get a glimpse of daily life on the Mekong Delta. Make a stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda en route back to Saigon.
Day 5: Journey to Hoi An
Fly to Danang and transfer to Hoi An stopping en route at the Marble Mountains. This afternoon take a walking tour of charming Hoi AN – wonderfully laidback and a wilfully traditional place, whose streets are a delight to wander. Visit an old merchants house, the elaborate Japanese Bridge and a bustling market.
Day 6: Tra Que Village
Drive out into the countryside to Tra Que, a small farming community that supplies many hotels and restaurants in the area with vegetables and herbs. Here you can enjoy the lush green countryside and stroll through the gardens to see the farmers at work. This afternoon can be spent on the nearby Cua Dai beach or with a free afternoon back in Hoi An.
Day 7: Imperial Citadel, Hue
Leave Hoi An for Hue via a scenic route over the Hai Van Pass. The epitome of Vietnam’s dynastic past, Hue is a dignified city. Take a cyclo ride up to the imposing imperial citadel. The magnificent centrepiece of the Royal Empire, the citadel was extensively damaged during the Vietnam War.
Day 8: Fly to Hanoi
Fly to Hanoi. Take the afternoon at leisure or start your explorations of Vietnam’s capital.
Day 9: Discover Hanoi
Sightseeing today includes a wander through the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, where you will pass Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and visit the Stilt House set in the gardens of the Presidential Palace. Also visit One Pillar Pagoda and the Confucian Temple of Literature. End the days exploration with a walk through the Old Quarter and enjoy a traditional water puppet show.
Day 10: Halong Bay Junk Cruise
Spend the day aboard a traditional junk cruising amongst the karst peaks on the tranquil green waters of Halong Bay. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and a vision of awe-inspiring beauty, it is not hard to see why it is one of Vietnam’s most popular destinations. A fresh seafood meal is included in your voyage. Return to Hanoi.
Day 11: Return to Hanoi
Rise early this morning for a beautiful sunrise over the bay. Return to Hanoi after brunch on deck and enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Day 12: Fly Hanoi to UK
Fly to the UK, arriving home the same or following day.
