Day 1: Arrival in Lyon
Arrive for your flight or Eurostar journey. On arrival, transfer by coach to our ship moored in Lyon’s historic centre.
Day 2: Lyon
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour around Lyon. See some of the Roman remains here, as well as the Renaissance-era buildings and its renowned speciality eateries. While having lunch on board, the ship begins sailing upstream. On the journey, you’ll see picturesque villages and might even catch a glimpse of Mont Blanc.
Day 3: Beaune
Awake in Chalon, where the morning tour allows you to see some of the pretty villages that produce some of the world’s best wines. Nearby is Beaune, Burgundy’s wine capital, which you’ll take a guided tour of before free time before returning to the ship for lunch. This afternoon, the ship sails to Vienne.
Day 4: Vienne & Tain l’Hermitage
Enjoy breakfast before having free time to head into Vienne, perhaps exploring the Roman Temple or amphitheatre. Return to the ship for lunch as it sails south, mooring in Tain l’Hermitage later on. Before dinner, enjoy a wine-tasting session onboard.
Day 5: Ardèche Gorges
This morning, the ship sails south towards Valence. After lunch, discover the dramatic Ardèche Gorges. During the afternoon, you can choose to either visit a lavender farm or visit the Grotte de la Madeleine (please note, this includes a trek with 250 steps down and the back up). Return to the ship and after dinner, watch a ballroom dancing performance.
Day 6: Arles & Pont Du Gard
Wake up in Arles where you’ll have the choice of two tours this morning. The first option focuses on the city’s Roman heritage, seeing its theatre, amphitheatre and the Alyscamps. The second focuses on Van Gogh, who lived here for just over a year. After lunch, visit the amazing Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct before rejoining the ship.
Day 7: Avignon
This morning, you have a choice for exploring the city of Avignon. You can take a guided tour of the city, visiting the Pont Saint-Benezet, followed by an inside tour of the Pope’s Palace. Or, after visiting the bridge, you can take a ride on petit train through the city. After lunch, you have free time to explore Avignon before enjoy the Chef’s Dinner back onboard the ship, followed by a performance by a local pianist.
Day 8: Return Home
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or train station for your return journey home.
