Day 1 – Arrive in Lyon
Arrive in Lyon via the airport or train station and transfer by coach to the ship. Spend the rest of the evening settling into your cabin.
Day 2 – Mâcon
In the morning, you’ll arrive in the charming town of Mâcon, from where you’ll drive to Cluny Abby, where you’ll have a guided tour. After, visit one of the region’s best winemakers for a tour and tasting in a historic chateau. On the way back to the ship, stop at Solutre Rock, an important prehistoric site.
Back on board for lunch, spend a leisurely afternoon on the deck or in the pool as the ship sails towards Chalon, we you arrive in evening.
Day 3 – Chalon, Beaune & Burgundy
In the morning, visit some of the villages in the area as well as Beaune, Burgundy’s wine capital. During a walking tour here, visit the Hotel-Dieu, a museum showcasing famous art. Return to the ship for lunch as it sails back to Lyon.
Day 4 – Lyon
Take a short walking tour of Lyon before having some free time to explore under your own steam. Return to the ship for lunch and another afternoon of cruising, which takes you past the Roman town of Vienne
Day 5 – Ardèche Gorges
Overnight, the ship will have arrived in Le Pouzin from where you’ll drive to Ardèche Gorges. Here, marvel at sweeping limestone cliffs, blue waters and caves and grottoes. Return to Viviers where the ship is moored. Continue on cruising towards Avignon where the ship is moored for the night.
Day 6 – Avignon, Pont du Gard & Uzès
After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of Avignon, one of France’s most intriguing cities. Back on board for lunch, you’ll then visit the Pont du Gard, one of the best-preserved Roman constructions in the world. Continue onto Uzès, famed for its local produces and textile markets. Enjoy a walking tour of the old town, visiting the Duke’s Palace.
Day 7 – Arles & Les-Baux-de-Provence
See some of Arles’ magnificent Roman remains this morning, including its amphitheatre and necropolis. In the afternoon, take a scenic drive to the village of Les Baux-de-Provence, where you’ll visit an olive oil farm to learn about its production and sample some with local specialities. The ship remains in Arles overnight, giving you the chance to spend the evening ashore.
Day 8 – Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, Camargue & Ornithological Park
Enjoy a tour of the fascinating Ornithological Park in Pont de Gau, home to the colonies of birds that have made their home in the wetlands on the south coast. Later, drive to the seaside town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mar, with a short tour of the main sights before returning to the ship for lunch and the afternoon cruise to Chateauneuf-de-Pape
Day 9 – Orange & Chateauneuf-du-Pape
After breakfast, drive into the heart of the Rhone Valley, arriving in the Roman city of Orange, home to two magnificent monuments: the Triumphal Arch and the Roman theatre. Next, drive to the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, renowned for its wine. Enjoy a wine tasting before drinks back to the ship.
Day 10 – Lyon
Spend the morning cruising, arriving in Lyon just before lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure in the city or on the ship.
Day 11 – Return Home
Transfer to the airport or train station for your return journey to the UK.
