Day 1 – Arrive in Lisieux
Take the Eurostar from London St Pancreas (regional connections available) to Paris Gare du Nord. On arrival, transfer to Lisieux, a medieval town in the Calvados region. Settle into your hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel to get to know your fellow travellers
Day 2 – Bayeux & Arromanches
This morning, visit Bayeux, and see the world-famous tapestry. After lunch, discover Gold Beach, one of the five main landing sites on D-day. At the western end of the shoreline lies Arromanches where you may wish to visit a museum dedicated to D-day.
Day 3 – Rouen
Today, enjoy Rouen, Normandy’s capital. Enjoy fascinating walking tour around the old city centre, visiting Notre-dame Cathedral. You’ll also see the Gros-Horloge, a 14th Century astronomical clock and the old marketplace where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.
There’s free time after to explore independently, perhaps visiting one of the many museums or simply browse the charming shops
Day 4 – Honfleur & cider tasting
After breakfast, travel to Honfleur, one of the prettiest spots on the northern coast. Its old harbour is lined by tall pastel-coloured houses, restaurants and traditional shops which you can explore.
This afternoon is dedicated to cheese and cider. Stop at an organic cider producer to learn about the cider-making process. Then sit down for a tasting paired with a variety of classic Normandy cheeses.
Day 5 – Monet’s Garden & return home
This morning, visit Claude Monet’s house and gardens, seeing the Japanese inspired water garden containing the lily pond where he painted his famous work. The interior of the house, including the artist’s studio is also delightful to see.
Later, continue to Paris for your return Eurostar journey.
Grand Hotel de l’Esperance
