Tignes Ski Holidays
High in the scenic French Alps, and not too far from the Italian border, a ski holiday to Tignes offers snow-sure slopes and a superb ski area. As you would expect of a resort of this size, Tignes offers something for every winter sports enthusiast of every level. That’s why beginner, intermediate and expert skiers and boarders love this fabulous high-altitude location. Its affordability also makes it popular with families.
Tignes centres around three small villages sitting high above the tree line. Forming part of the famed Espace Killy ski area, along with neighbouring Val d’Isere, Tignes provides a huge variety of terrain for skiers and freestylers, from challenging off-piste powder to leisurely cruising runs and Naturide trails – runs that have been made safe but not pisted.
The highlight of the ski area is the magnificent Grande Motte Glacier (and yes, summer skiing is available!), with its excellent runs back to the resort. The long runs down to Tignes-Les-Brevieres are a popular choice, home to many restaurants – perfect for lunch on the terrace. Beginners are also well catered for with a good selection of wide nursery slopes. The lively hub of Val Claret offers a beginners-designated green area.
Lift pass options include a full Espace Killy pass, a local Tignes area pass, group pass discounts, family ski pass and free passes designed to encourage beginners onto the slopes. And if you fancy a break from skiing, why not have a go at paragliding, heliskiing, snowtubing, dog-sledding, ice diving and much more besides.
