Days 1-2: UK – Shanghai
Fly overnight to the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Shanghai
This morning, explore the classical Yu Garden before strolling through the old town and visiting a silk mill. Then, head up Jin Mao Tower to take in the views of the skyline. Later, take a stroll along the Bund before cruising on the Huangpu River. Tonight, enjoy some traditional Shanghainese cuisine.

Day 4: Bullet train to Yichang
Take a bullet train to Yichang and board your river cruise vessel.

Days 5-7: Yangtze River Cruise
See the Three Gorges Dam before cruising upstream for the next three days. During the sailing, enjoy a range of shore excursions and onboard entertainment. You’ll also take a side trip down either the Shennong or Goddess Stream on smaller boats.

Day 8: Historic Ciqikou
Disembark from the cruise vessel this morning and transfer to Ciqikou, known for its porcelain. Spend some time strolling through the district before continuing onto Chengdu. For dinner, enjoy a delicious Sichuanese meal for dinner with the option to watch a performance of Sichuan Opera.

Day 9: Chengdu Panda Reserve
Visit the famous Panda Reserve to see these adorable animals being reared in wooded surroundings reminiscent of their natural habitat. Later, fly to the former ancient capital of Xian. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Shui Jiao dumpling meal followed by a performance of Tang Dynasty dancing

Day 10: Terracotta Warriors
Spend the morning admiring the legendary Terracotta Warriors, also visiting a workshop where they’re recreated in the same style. Later, take a stroll along Xian’s 14th century city walls before stopping at a local brewery for a beer tasting. End the day with a walk through the Muslim Quarter.

Day 11: Bullet Train to Beijing
Take the bullet train to Beijing.

Day 12: Beijing
Head to Tiananmen Square, Beijing’s symbolic heart, and into the sprawling magnificence of the Forbidden City. Also soak up the harmonious ambience of the Temple of Heaven, an orderly oasis in a bustling urban landscape, and end the day watching a Chinese acrobatic show.

Day 13: The Great Wall
Walk on the Great Wall before visiting a jade factory. Spend the afternoon wandering through the gardens of the Summer Palace before enjoying Beijing’s specialty Peking Duck for dinner.

Fly to the UK, arriving home later the same day or the following morning

Visit Chengdu’s Matchmakers Corner, where parents search for partners for their children
Cruise along the Bund
Cruise along the Huangpu river, admiring the colonial architecture of the Bund
Discover Xian’s Beer Scene
Visit one of Xian’s local breweries to learn how the beers are brewed, then sample a glass or two.

Day 14: Fly to Dubai
Instead of flying back to the UK, take a flight to Dubai. On arrival, transfer to your resort.
