Days 1-2: Fly to Beijing
Fly overnight to Beijing, China’s historical capital. Depending on your time of arrival the rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3: Forbidden City and Hutongs
Stroll across Tiananmen Square and into the sprawling magnificence of the Forbidden City. Next visit Yangdaixiejie where there’s time to wander the Hutongs; these narrow alleys offer a glimpse of old Beijing. Later, there’s free time to explore.

Day 4: Huanghuacheng Great Wall
This particularly scenic section of the wall is reached by boat and boasts spectacular views from the top. Spend the evening at leisure exploring colourful Wangfujing night market, or take an optional (at your own expense) Peking Duck dinner.

Day 5: Imperial Summer Palace
Take a relaxed day exploring the beautifully designed grounds of the Summer Palace including the Long Walk and the Marble Boat. Spend time strolling around pretty Kunming Lake and walk up wooded Longevity Hill.

Day 6: Temple of Heaven
Visit the Temple of Heaven and mingle with the locals as they start their day with tai chi, dancing and cards in a flurry of sociable activity. Take the overnight train to Xian.

Day 7: Cycling in Xian
Start your day with a gentle cycle ride that will take you the nine miles around the wall and past many smiling locals. This afternoon visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda.

Day 8: Terracotta Warriors
Spend the morning viewing the majestic Terracotta Warriors before taking a walking tour of Xian’s Muslim Quarter.

Day 9:Chengdu
Take a bullet train to Chengdu. On arrival, take a walk around People’s Park, visit a local teahouse and see Matchmaker’s Corner.

Day 10: Giant Pandas
Visit the Chengdu Panda Conservation Centre and see the pandas up close. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. This evening, there is an optional hot pot dinner and ‘face-changing’ show.

Day 11: Fly to Lijiang
Fly to Lijiang, sitting in the foothills of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.

Day 12: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
Take a cable car to one of the high meadows. Visit the minority Naxi village and admire the Baisha frescoes.

Day 13: Tiger Leaping Gorge (Optional)
Enjoy a day at leisure or trek to Tiger Leaping Gorge

Day 14: Shaxi Ancient Town
Discover Lijiang’s historic old town before driving to Shaxi. Learn about the people who live here before driving to Dali.

Day 15: Weibaoshan (Optional)
Enjoy another say at leisure or take an optional visit to Weibaoshan, one of 14 sacred Taoist mountains, to see the temples and meet a Taoist priest.

Day 16: Dali’s Ancient Town
Visit the Three Pagodas and the Old Town. Enjoy some time at leisure before driving to Kunming.

Day 17: Stone Forest
Meander through the immense formations of the Stone Forest before visiting Green Lake Park.
(Breakfast and lunch)

Day 18: Beautiful Guilin
Take a bullet train to Guilin. Walk around the lakes before having an evening at leisure.

Day 19: Hiking in Longji
Spend more time in Guilin or join an optional four-hour hike in the rice terraces of Longji.

Day 20: Li River Cruise
Take a gentle river cruise to Yangshou, taking in the dramatic limestone cliffs. On arrival, there is an optional to hike to the top of Moon Hill.

Day 21: Yangshou Tai Chi
Begin the day with a Tai Chi session before having the afternoon at leisure.

Day 22 – Ancient Ciqikou
Visit the Reed Flute Cave before driving to Chongqing. Enjoy free time in the old town of Ciqikou then board your Yangtze Cruise vessel

Day 23-25 – Yangtze River Cruise
A cruise down the Yangtze reveals some of the world’s most dramatic scenery. Visit the Three Gorges Dam and enjoy excursions. On day 25, disembark and travel to Yichang for a flight to Shanghai.

Day 26 – Shanghainese Shanghai
Wake up to the buzz of Shanghai, and take a breakfast walking tour through traditional streets. Visit the Yu Yuan Gardens, the Old Town and the Silk Museum. End the day with a stroll along the Bund and a cruise along the Huangpu River.

Day 27 – Zhujiajiao (Optional)
Join the optional day tour to delightful Zhujiajiao or spend your time at leisure in Shanghai. This evening, watch the ERA show and enjoy a farewell dinner.
